Anyone know how to pre order this. The press release says limited edition . I couldn't find the print run anywhere. Does anyone know that as well. I really don't want to miss out on this one so I'm trying to do my homework now. It gets released in September I believe

Is this hardcover Joyland going to be a wide release? Will I be able to get it at my local bookstore or do I need to order it?

I did read the press release, so if I missed that info, cry pardon. :wink2:

chief4db I think the limited mentioned in the press release was the one put out at the same time as the paperback.

That's right, this is not a limited edition and should be available at local retailers to the best of my knowledge.

Yeah too bad they didn't make this a limited edition. This is just basically joyland in hardcover. Think they missed an opportunity to make this special. You can go onto amazon and order as many amazon u like. Profits profits

There was already a limited edition of Joyland published in 2013 by Titan Books. Both an unsigned hardcover and a signed numbered (724 copies) were done.

see that's what I mean. I never knew that joyland numbered to 724 was out. but more importantly how do you ever score one even if you do know. seems like only In the know people get these. a guy i work with said that happened with gunslinger. he forgets what book followed that but when he went to get it the book said from the author of carrie, salems lot gunslinger etc. he was like what the heck is gunslinger. he never heard of it. finders keepers is coming out. im looking everywhere to see if a limited version is coming out bc I loved mr. mercedes. it stinks bc if one doesn't come out then I wasted a lot of time.

I hate to proselytize, but almost all the upcoming books are talked about in TheDarkTower.org (in the Calvin's Corner forum) well before their publication. I am and have been very active on that site.

Calvin's Corner

Also informative for all upcoming King material is the Oracle forum:

The Oracle

FYI, no limiteds of Revival, Mr. Mercedes or Finders Keepers have been published or announced in the US.

Different UK versions, although not limiteds in the strict sense, have been published by a couple of UK bookstores, at least for Mr. Mercedes and Revival. I expect different versions of Finders Keepers will also be done by WH Smith and Waterstones. These are not numbered, but they offer differences from the "regular" UK trade versions. They offer a different color dust jacket or other variation (the Waterstones edition of Revival had blue page edges instead of the normal white. Other than that, it was identical to the regular trade edition.

Revival was done by the UK publisher, Hodder & Stoughton, in a numbered edition of 500 but had a facsimile signature, not a real one.

What happened with The Gunslinger was that Donald Grant published 10,000 copies in 1982, which were advertised in Locus and a couple of other sci-fi related magazines (back in the day before the internet!), so, unless you were already on Grants snail-mail-ing list or subscribed to these mags, you would have never heard of this title until Pet Semetary was published in hardback and The Gunslinger was listed in the front along with other King titles. Demand was so great that King agreed to have another 10,000 copies printed and those sold out as well. Demand was (and still is) high for this title and eventually Grant did a third 10,000 copy printing, which was only available in a three book set along with The Drawing Of The Three and The Wastelands. If you want to be on top of these limiteds, you have to sign up on the email lists of these publishers, there is a list on the stephenking.com websight somewhere. Also, when one is announced it is usually added to the 'Latest News' page on stephenking.com. We were all late to the party at some point, I didn't get started on my limited collecting until I found out about the Talisman that Grant published and even then I could only get the unsigned 'gift' edition. By that time, limiteds of Danse Macabre, Firestarter, Cujo, Christine and The Dead Zone had been published! I have been able to purchase Christine and The Dead Zone for my collection at steep prices over the years. There are thousands of King collectors who want these signed limited books when they come out, so if you can't get a signed one then get one of the unsigned 'gift' editions. There's usually not too much difference between them and they are quite less expensive. We all have to start somewhere, right?

It's a handsome edition and the illustrations are great. The signed editions went within hours I heard. This should last and not fall apart like the paperback will after repeated readings. Only the second King book I have read after his latest shorts. Not what I was expecting at all.
