Has Mr. King ever considered writing or adapting something to a "Walking Simulator?"

For those of you that don't know what a Walking Simulator is, it's a videogame genre where you...walk around.

The stories are played out as you go to different spots and whatnot.

Some wonderful stories have already been told using this vehicle.

What Remains of Edith Finch

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture

That Dragon Cancer

And so so SO many more.

These are not action packed games.

There are some extremely light puzzle elements from time to time, but never anything difficult as far as I've seen. (And I've seen a LOT)

So, would sai King be open to maybe checking something like this out?

It would give a ton of credence to the genre, and since sai King enjoys working with new technology and ways to tell a story, I would think this would be right up his alley.

Thoughts?

Something from the world of 1408 would be fun.
Or Children of the Corn.
Joyland would be fun as well.

A story from one of the levels of The Dark Tower would be interesting
There really are so many different opportunities here.

The problem, as I see it, is going to be telling the story with as little interaction as possible.

That is not to be read as "No interaction at all whatsoever."

If you've never played a game in this genre, it's hard to describe.

Excellent! That would be good.

Done right, this could prove to be a very good game.

It doesn't fit the strictest definition of the genre but it would be more than welcome.

It will end up being more of a survival management game (In that you have to ration things like water, food, etc.)

But the talking to the other kids along the way to what would otherwise be the finish line.

That would be fantastically awesome.

Unfortunately, because the game idea popped up from here I doubt it could ever actually happen in this regard.

Something about copyright law and all that.

He's been asked more times than I can remember to collaborate on gaming projects and has had no interest in doing so so far.

I absolutely understand that, but the genre I'm talking about isn't necessarily "games" any more. These are now more like Interactive Fiction. There's no decisions to be made other than where to head to next.

There's not even a Choose Your Own Adventure aspect to what I'm thinking about. It's hard to explain without someone who's never played one.

At any rate, there's more than a small chance of this kind of thing becoming the next major vehicle for story telling.

"Video Games" have already passed by Movies in terms of revenue.

I understand first-hand that not all art is in pursuit of profits, nor should it be. I'm just using it as an indicator of where art is heading.
