Think of the possibilities/ the inferences to certain characters within the book. We know King and what he can do to our loved, as well as hated characters. Change can be a positive thing. Looking forward to seeing what SK had in mind with this title.
Makes sense for a cop book. Also makes me think Hodges is a goner--lol. And Mr. King would KNOW the implications of his title, so where does that leave us?

I like it better than the original.Presumably the publishers don't want suicide in the title and they think a different title will result in higher sales. But THE SUICIDE PRINCE is more striking, memorable and unique than END OF WATCH. If the decision is already finalised then so be it, but I think a poll on this site asking everyone which title they prefer would be interesting...

His wife is the one who convinced him to change the title. I don't know if she is the one who suggested this title or if Steve came up with it, though. And yes, this is the final title not a working title.
Personally, The Suicide Prince always made me think of 2 things: First, the INXS song Suicide Blonde, and then I would have it stuck in my head all day. Second, the word "Prince" makes me think of The Prince Of Darkness and automatically conjures up a story of the Devil.

As far as I'm concerned it's a superior title to Suicide Prince. One of the things I appreciate about sK is that he's not arrogant about such things. He's teachable.

I thought the original title was great! It seems a shame to come up with a terrific title and then not use it, but I can understand why there may have been concerns/reservations about the original title. And on a related tangent I certainly prefer DREAMCATCHER over CANCER. Thanks for the insight Ms Mod.

Personally, I want a great story to end the series,and am not real wrapped up in the title..

The Suicide Prince sounded scary and intriguing, and really seemed to fit what King was hinting at in Finders Keepers's epilogue.

But from the end of the last book, it would have been PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's like a band with no backing track, or its like a book in another language, sorry but NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm HATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it now. It worked so well and said to me it was the book I was expecting finders to be . And of caurse, what happened with Mercedes.
