Does anyone know anything about the different jackets this book has in hard cover?

There are different colors of the light coming from under the door (green/blue) and different lettering (red/gold).

I remember this being discussed on the old board but I can't recall the details, and can't access the old board, so sorry for dragging out old questions.

...this would be a good query for kingricefan ....
Thanks, Scott! The 'tag' didn't show up on my end though. If the color of the light coming from under the door is blue my guess is that the book was left out in the sun and has faded. I've seen a few like this and that's what happened to those. As for the red or gold for the lettering, my guess is that by this point in King's career the publisher realized that there are serious (SERIOUS!!!!) collector's out there who want every edition available to them and would buy both colors of the books. Think of when the original Plume trade paperbacks were released, one depicting a rose and the other depicting a train. Collector's had to have both (yes, I'm included in that bunch). In England they released about 6 or 7 different covers on the paperbacks of Under The Dome......

The Tommyknockers isn't the only US King title that has variations. Under the Dome has a dust jacket with white lettering and one, less common, with black lettering. Revival has two different dust jackets--one the "bookstore" on the back, the other with "Barnes & Noble" on it. There are others, too. Those are the ones that came to mind.

Thanks for your input on this question!

I have a copy with red lettering and blue light coming under the door that I bought new, and I never left it in the sun. I also have a normal copy with red lettering and green light. A friend has a copy with silver lettering and blue light...

I got a bit batty on this subject this week (too much free time on my hands) and looked at thedarktower.org and found a discussion about this (and a pic of a silver/blue cover) where they wonder if it was an intentional thing, the cover having all these variations (as Wikipedia says, without any citations though, natch) or a printing error. I tried calling Putnam to see if anyone might know what the deal was way back when, but they didn't give a tinkers damn. Probably thought I was nuts!

I don't collect multiple copies of books, though I do have my beat up paperback DT books that keep my HC copies from suffering. This Tommyknocker thing is an anomaly for me, and I know there must be an answer to the thing.
