I didn't like the book much, either, and I'm so glad to find out I wasn't the only one
left wondering at the supposed "twist" ending. Like, ok, Merry was the one with the ghosts in her head, but the sister was faking it and playing along...??? I didn't really get it, and I didn't find it scary. I hated all the characters, so I wasn't upset in the least when Merry killed them all. The reality show thing wasn't believable to me at all, and got on my nerves. The blog posts were just grating to read. Rabble rabble, rabble; I didn't like it. The ending left me craving spaghetti, though. :umm:

lol, I was craving spaghetti too and I like spaghetti pasta with just butter and Parmesan - no sauce. Who woulda quessed that might mean I'm possessed by a demon :)

I didn't find any of it scary either. At times it seemed to be just another novel about teen angst.

Y'know that review by Stephen King - “A Head Full of Ghosts scared the living hell out of me, and I’m pretty hard to scare.” - I'm beginning to wonder if the review could have been by that other author named Stephen King.

Wot the bloody L???

So was it Merry all along who was possessed? Is that why it was freezing in the coffee shop during Merry's final interview with Rachel? There were no clues :( I didn't catch any clues anyways. There are supposed to be clues dangit! :(

Lol.......Maybe I'm a bit off but when a book leaves me asking...wth it cracks me up.......much like Cell.....which alot of people really did not like but I did!

Oh yes it can!

YOU ARE KILLING ME! And I am NOT too far from NY to come down there and make you see the light! I am willing you to like this book! ....... Damnit! ;-D;;D

I read a review of Disappearance at Devil's Rock in which the reviewer warned against buying the kindle version. A key point of the story is revealed through handwritten diary entries which are pretty much impossible to read on a kindle. (image from reviewer follows)

I've read other novels on the kindle with images of maps, letters, etc that can't be read and the images won't enlarge :(

Apologies.

Immersion breaker = something that takes one out of a story.

Can happen in several ways - something not clearly explained, a character action that seems to come out of left field, a typo, an awkward phrase, a repeated device that detracts instead of adds to the story - in this case the handwritten notes, etc

I had that problem also with the diary entries. Needed a magnifying glass to read them. Weird story also. I'm still trying to decide whether I liked it or not after finishing it about two weeks ago.....
