Hey fellow King fans! I feel so fortunate to have found this wonderful forum as I just sort of stumbled upon it while looking for some King hardbacks.

So I'll get right to it:

I'm Hank.

I'm from the PNW , U.S.A.

I'm 30 and I've been a die hard horror/fiction and ALL-THINGS-CREEPY fan since I was a tot.

I only just recently started building my own little personal library of King books and it quickly turned into a fervent hobby as these things do. I was fortunate enough to inherent a handful of King paperbacks to get me started and lately I've been tracking down my favorite Hard covers / hardbacks. The only hard covers that consistently elude me (yes even used) are The Shining, The Stand, Carrie, Nightshift and Pet Sematary. I've found it nearly impossible thus far to find these used (if even finding them at all) for less than 20 bucks (U.S.). The quest continues!

Anyhow,

A few of my favorite books:

The Dark Tower 1 - 7 (if I have to pick only one of them I'd say Wizard and Glass)
IT
Pet Sematary

Then a few Nick Cutter books:

The Deep (absolutely scared the hell out of me)
The Troop
Little Heaven

I run a Horror-oriented instagram page called @Horrible_henry highlighting and sharing all my favorite creepies.

I'm looking forward to getting to know all you like-minded scare junkies. Nice to meet you!

If you managed read the entirety of this blathering, you should tell me the scariest book you've ever read! Would love any recommendations!

11-22-63 Welcome.JPG

The scariest Stephen King book was probably the one with Rose Madder's husband (Norman) and the horrible things he did to his victims.

The Amityville Horror book really scared me a lot many years ago but I was only maybe 22, reading it alone at night with no one else in my apartment. Some parts of it really gave me a chill.

Howdy Hank! Keep checking the used books places from time to time...you may get lucky. I just recently found the original Dark Tower II at a value village. I gave my original away and eventually replaced it with a paperback. Now that I have the large softcover again it looks way nicer on the shelf (not that it should matter as the content is the important stuff, but it is prettier)! Welcome and all the best, mal.

Welcome to the SKMB Hank, nice to have you here. You could post a thread in our Buy/Sell/Trade section if you're seeking some secondhand hard cover copies of Stephen's work, somebody might be able to help you out.

Regarding your question... I think Salem's Lot is one of the scarier reads for me.

Oh thanks for the tip I'll take a peak in that area! Also, can't wait to start Salem's Lot.

Hi Hank!

Abebooks is a good place for finding hardback copies of books if you haven't already tried there?

I think hunting a book down is part of the fun

:D

Funny you should mention it I actually just found a few good ones there. Hunting is definitely fun I agree. I've been trying to acquaint myself with all the neat collector's editions that have come out over the years as well (not necessarily to own but I just like to see all the variations)

Hi and welcome, Hank. Pleased to meet you.

Welcome to the SKMB!!

As far as scariest book, they vary depending on my age of reading/re-reading. I couldn't even pick up Pet Semetary when I was pregnant, but it's normally a favorite of mine. Good luck with your quest and keep checking those thrift stores!

Welcome, Hank! Pet Sematary is my favorite King novel. The Road by Cormac McCarthy is the scariest book I've ever read.
