I won't list 5 because I haven't read enough to make a list, but pet semetary is definitely one of them, and judging by the amount of times it's popped up, it's safe to say that it's a general consensus.

It is massively dark in parts, yet I've seen it on people's lists once, I wonder if people think the positives of the strong bond and friendships of the losers counter balances the darkness?

I thought the library policeman was rather dark.

and am still undecided about the rest. Brady Hartsfield is a sicko in Mr. Mercedes, Joe St. George is another really bad guy in Delores Claiborne, and of course, the embodiment of pure evil, who is Randall Flagg in several of Sai Kings novels.

I have just begun 'The Dark Half'. Many others have suggested it for the list, am really excited to get into it.

I watched a rerun of Castle's mystery noir episode yesterday and it reminded me that Umney's Last Case was pretty much of a mystery noir story soooooooo... I want to add Umley's Last Case to my list

FDNS- There were times in that book where I needed a time out.
Dreamcatcher- Considering when it was written, there was plenty of nasty pouring out.
Lisey's Story- It touches on those places where many will not see.
Doctor Sleep- It's creepy and dark from the get go.
Pet Sematary- Because I still haven't been able gut out this one, yet. But I will.

Definitely Full Dark, No Stars. I'm thinking The Dark Half is pretty dark. Apt Pupil is pretty grim.
