Hey guys! New to the boards, been reading King since I was around 10 years old. The past 2 years I have been working my way through all of his works. My favorite is the Shining followed closely by It, but to be honest I end up loving everything I read even when I'm not blown away. Finally decided to join because I have a burning question about a specific novel I just finished!

I was thinking of posting under the novel's thread, but might as well put it here as well. In Bag of Bones, why does Kyra call Max/Rogette white poppa/nana? Are Kyra and/or Mattie African-American? It just seemed odd to me and I wasn't sure if maybe there was some connection considering Sara was African-American and the awfulness that happened to her at the hands of the TR men.
