I've lurked over the years and decided to sign up. I really enjoy Stephen King's writing. He is my favorite writer. I started with The Stand a long time ago (I'm old). I read it as published then but am thinking I need to get a copy of it after Mr. King expanded it.

I'm happy to be here. ;-D

Welcome, Kat. Get a copy of The Stand, the untrimmed turkey version with all its fatty goodness, and tell us what you think. What is the last King novel you read?

Hi Doc Creed! Thank you for the welcome. I've read most of Mr. King's works, except for the non-fiction. I also haven't finished The Dark Tower. I'm up to Wizard and Glass. Life happened and I didn't read for a time--then I just didn't get back to it. I just finished Mr. King's book with his son, Owen, Sleeping Beauties. I am now listening to Joyland again and also listening to the short story collections again, as well as some of the earlier works like Salem's Lot. I totally enjoyed the immersive 11/22/63 lately too. I always love his work. I remember in the early days eagerly awaiting the release of his new novels--walking into the book store and purchasing it and then going home and becoming completely absorbed. That was a long time ago. Now I just order online.;-D

I am ordering The Stand again, and also the revised addition of The Gun Slinger. Are you currently reading one of Mr. King's books?

That's great, I think you are going to like the added scenes. I haven't read the updated version of The Gunslinger, though.

I am not reading any Stephen King books right now. The last two I read were gifts from a friend: Firestarter and The Long Walk. Both were rereads.
(Thanks again, king family fan!) :)

When you mentioned Firestarter I went into my attic to see if it was there. I found it and many other SK hardcovers. I think I have first editions of Eye of the Dragon and Nightmares and Dreamscapes. There are no previous printings listed. I also found a four novella book by Richard Bachman--it includes The Long Walk. :joyous:
