Hi, I'm Michal from the Czech republic. I'm 25 years old and work as a journalist in a small town. Despite not having much free time, I still have quite a number of hobbies such as floorball, traveling, hiking, reading and writting. I would like to add connecting with other people and conversation not only about books and literature. :)

I got to know with Stephen King's books just recently, but I simply fell in love with the first of them, 11/22/63. Some parts of it made me tremble and the end was... well, don't have enough words for it. Last pages were the saddest I've ever read.

And this is one more reason for me to log here. I would be really grateful if you recomend me some more S.K.'s books you really like and also your own opinions on 11/22/63. Moreover, I'm looking forward to be a part of interesting conversations with you all.

Have a nice day! ;-D

Hi Michal, welcome to the site. You should talk to our friend Kurben, he also likes to play Floorball! :)
Take a look through our Library pages when you have a moment, you may find some inspiration for your next read there.

...Welcome Michal!....I am overdue for a re-read of 11/22/63, but I do know it's one of his best....the mix of historical data and fictional constructs is done wonderfully well.....as far as ones I have liked?.....The Stand, IT, Insomnia , Duma Key-that's only a few to start with.....

Hi, Michal! Gosh, there's so many good books to recommend!! I just finished Different Seasons, which is a collection of novella stories, and it was a fantastic read. Apt Pupil and Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption both have lots of great historical references. The Body has quite a few highly emotional scenes, and I think you'd really enjoy the whole collection!

I think 11/23/63 was a lovely read as well. I've always had a soft spot for history, and really felt as if I'd taken a step back into the 60's myself when I read it.
I also love the butterfly effect his dabbling with history has, and how each decision he makes has affects on current events. I've always thought that would be true if we somehow figured out how to time travel. I also like how King points out that just because we think we're making a decision that's best for the future, sometime we piddling humans have NO idea why things happen the way they do.

Anywho, look forward to hearing from and conferring with you in the future! Welcome to the boards, mate!

Maybe try a book called "It"; The Dead Zone is also very good

Duma Key would be another suggestion

For a short story collection try "Full Dark, No Stars"

Yeah yeah

Welcome. Yada yada yada.

More importantly

Floorball?

Floorballlover?
I think it's a European thing? I wondered myself at first - up here in Canada we used to play broomball - we even had a team of female broom ballers in the military - some of those girls were dang scary! :eek-new::icon_eek:

.... but um, athletic - VERY athletic! :biggrin2::thumbs_up::thumbs_up:
