Hi, nice to meet who ever replies this (if anybody does).

I came to this web mainly because I want to write, but l am too scared to do it.

The thing is that I am already 36 years old, and I havee never write, only draw. But since I have always draw my own characters and invented in my head stories for them I thought l may try my luck on writting. But there is a voice that tells me ¨you are too old, it is too late¨, should I listend to it?

Also, there´s another thing, I want to write my novel in english, but the truth is that english it is not my mother toung, l just took classes when l was a child (my mom practicaly forced me ;p ). And the thing is my english is a lot rusky. But l think that if l write the novel in my mother toung it will have less than the half chances of being publish than if l write it in english. I personally don´t know of any dark-fanatsy-horror stories that have been publish in my language so...
A friend of mine told that if l want to write it in english l should go ahead, because even if my english is a sin, if the story is good (and he think it is) l will find an editor willing to correct my sinful english. But I am still so unsure, what do you think?

Anyway, thank you for hearing me and I will apreciate any answare I get from anybody here. If you are a fan of Mr King I suerly can respect your opinion. And if in by any chance in this world Mr King you have read this, I will really, really, really apreciate your opinion. The thing is I am in a very dark place in my life roght now and this is the only thing I can think to do right now to save myself, but l am so, so insecure, so, so afraid.

Welcome Discord! My personal opinion would be to write your story in your mother tongue, and then find a good English translator. I think the words and story will flow easier for you in your own language. Which is what?

Good luck!

I would say that you would be best do what ever is easiest, so you can write it in your native language and then think about once it is finished. There is an female author from the southern states of America( I think she came from Florida, or Louisiana or Georgia) and I heard her on the radio saying that now she can't write so good because of arthritis so she talks it this computer program but the problem is it doesn't have the nuances of the language where she comes from, or the local dialects.

Hi and welcome. You are never to old to try something new. You have your art, now put your words to it and write your stories. I agree, do it in your native language. It is part of you and you won't have to lose the flow, thoughts, while trying to figure out a good English word. There are translator who can help you later. Do not keep the words within you- let them come out, write your stories. And never think you are too old!

Welcome. I think even Mr. King says in On Writing that it's never too late to start. Hell, I'm 47 and just had my first short story published. I sure hope it isn't the last.

If you feel that you want to write, by all means do it. And definitely read On Writing when you can. There's great advice in that book.
Good luck!

Greetings.

Perhaps start with a young adult (tweenie and early tween's) book and build the story around your illustrations.

Actually that is my idea exactly! you see when l was younger my mom would not allow me read or whatch horror because she thougt l was to young for it, and the only horror APT things l was allow to read and whatch were mostly boring. So l want to write something really horrifing but that can be ATP at the same time. In a way I want to write for that hororror craving little girl that l used to be
