A pet peeve of mine appropriate for this thread is the ripoff of weight loss supplements proliferate on TV. Since these products don't fall under the auspices of the FDA, and aren't required to prove their manufacturers incredible claims about them, the same false advertising laws applying to most other products don't in their case. So for instance, Lipozene can claim to cause the loss of "belly fat" without one's need for making a diet change or any other kind of lifestyle change. Check out this Mayo Clinic site...
