Ok, so I'm sure that a ton of fans share the same love-hate relationship towards the 90's made for tv adaptation. So, tell me fellow constant reader, what are you hoping to see in this highly anticipated(well at least by this guy) version. Also, how do you feel about the cast (not much yet but we can at least speculate)? While I can almost guarantee we won't see the controversial "love scene" discussed in previous years by members of this here forum, but things like the first real confrontation between the loser's club proper, and pennywise in the ruins of 29 neibolt street would be amazing to see visually. I'm personally excited by the studio's choice of actor for pennywise, just look at 'em. Anyways, Love the novel, love the mini-series, and just love ol' Stevie himself! So please join me and let's bring this IT thread back to life before the release of the film :) come home, come home, COME HOME!

I've not been following the latest on the remake, I sure hope that one of the rumours I read a while ago is not true - that the 2 time periods would be the late 80s and current time.

The Derry back stories would be great, even as a series of small vignettes. They could show Mike talking to the old men and the events like the kitchener iron works explosion, the Bradley gang massacre, the fire at the black spot etc could be shown as a memory.

I'd like to see Eddie being closer to the book with a wife. Bill should look like Bill, not the guy on the plane. It should also include or even start with Adrian melon at the festival.

But as much as I like films to stick to the book, I'd like them to change belch. That's probably the most cringe worthy thing in the mini series.

I like all the cast pictures I've seen. And I'm fine with them changing the time periods to the 80's and current day.

I am a bit concerned though....they are getting my hopes up, and I haven't been at all impressed with adaptions of King's work lately. At least with Cell and DT, I didn't get my hopes up first. They sounded bad pre-production.

I am a bit dubious to say the least. It's a hard story to get right on film and not be a million hours long. Sometimes King adaptations are great and sometimes they suck. If you don't get some back story it won't make sense. Two time periods would work. I will probably watch it.

I look forward to all movie/TV adaptations of SK's stories. :) Yes, some have been far better than others, but I enjoy all of them. There are a couple I have yet to see, though. I know that we all have our own mental pictures of the setting, characters, etc. in each story, but I'm guessing most of us have a unique picture all our own. No movie will ever make every single fan totally happy. I am always interested in seeing someone else's take on one of Sai King's stories. That's pretty much what each movie adaptation is, yes? Another's perspective. I figure it's a lot like reading the views here from the SKMB members. The views and opinions vary for each person. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to take on a project like this...knowing so many people are going to judge your work, ideas, choices...

....I like the look, thought the over the top description was ridiculous....almost like a left handed apology via a breakdown of the costuming....

"For Pennywise, there’s no need to stay faithful to any era’s fashions. He is a manifestation of what an immortal, supernatural being thinks of as a clown, amalgamating various styles it finds appealing. …Or maybe he’s just thinking of a toy that once belonged to a child he devoured."

I love that quote. Little bits and pieces of what a clown looks like throughout different periods thrown together by a creature not of this world. I loved Andy Muschietti's debut effort, Mama, and I'm really rooting for him here.

It just HAS to be better than the one that I watched on TV - it was a four part series, I think? You just gotta have hope!
I've always had a soft spot for the mini series, and whenever I've seen it it's always been 2 x 90 minute parts. I'm not sure why I like it so much, it's cheesey, the acting isn't great (Tim curry aside), and it's not very faithful to the book. There's just something about it that makes me happy to watch it.

Perhaps it's nostalgia? Were you young when you saw it? I am a latecomer to the book "It" and must admit I do not really find clowns to be all that scary - sorry!

That new evil clown looks pretty sinister so I have high hopes for a better movie this time around.

May well be, I can't remember the 1st time I saw it - it just seems to have always been in my memory, a bit like stand by me. I would have been 9 when it came out so it would be later than that, probably early teens.

I'm a latecomer to reading in general, IT was the first book I ever read voluntarily aged 28/29. I don't read king for the scares, I read him for the character development and story telling, both are 2nd to none in IT. I've never been scared of clowns, even as a kid.

I'll have to think about this overnight. I have such a connection to the book the the words "come home" elicit my own mantra. ( I want to). Alas it's late; I'm alone at a bar I've never been to and the bartender has my name! She just turned up the music.:very_drunk:

Well, that costume *is* silver-colored.

The pom poms don't look orange, though.

I'd like to see It smiling, to check if It could pass as a normal clown in public when It desired to do so.
 I'm home from my outing. I like what I've seen so far but I have an affinity for Harry Anderson and :moon:? That was an odd typo. The more I think about It, the more connections I relate to popular sitcoms. Normal Clown is to Cam from Modern family as bacon is to curry. Sorry, it's late; lame analogies can pass for comic relief. I can think of some Big Bang connections too. ..
I would like to be in the remake as Beverly Marsh played by [?] and Bill played by Damon.

theoretically we could get as much as 2 to 3 hours of extra movie out of two theater released films, so hopefully they'll have lots of time to hit the high points. i'm cool with them leaving out the smoke hole (but not necessarily the clubhouse, because that was a pretty cool concept). think they can cut the return through the sewers and just show them coming out (thereby deleting the need for any squirmy scenes). i would like at least some of the interlude stories to make it in, but based on the format, i'm not liking the chances. and they can cut most of bill's personal ending, or maybe come up with something different. i always thought the bike ride revives audra thing was a little strange and kind of off, not sure it translates all that well. it'd be nice to get some of that final storm that flattened downtown too. they seem to already be hitting important things like neibolt street, and patrick hockstetter that were left out of the first go around. it'd be nice if they left the wishy washy crap out too, you know, where the adults started panicking and acting like they were gonna run for it. that never happened in the book (other than some internal monologue vague thoughts) and i didn't like it in the movie. oh, and giant paul bunyan would be cool too
