Ok so I was going to start a new topic about this movie, but I knew with a little searching I would find that surly someone already made one. Im a bit surprised at the actual lack of movie discussion about this particular one.

So here is my two cents. And BTW for those who have Netflix it is now on there so pretty easy to watch now.

I fully enjoyed the movie, I have not read the book, I own it, but have not read it. I usually hate to watch a movie based on a book I know I will be reading, and I wont watch any SK movie before I have read the book. But in this instance I really wanted to see this so yeah, went ahead and watched it. First thing I will say is you wont see Harry Potter the same, that's for sure. ha. And like anyone who does such a role for so many years and everyone identifies them as that character it was hard to stop thinking things like, "sure is funny hearing Harry Potter use the F word, or seeing Harry Potter do shots, or watching Harry Potter F*ck. lol" but once you get past THAT, its a really good original movie.

Reminded me a lot of Earlier SK works and his style. I also like how funny it was, really didn't expect that much humor but the confessions of the people are quite crazy and cant help to make you laugh. Over all its quite a original, sad love story. If you have not seen it I recommend that you do, and would like to hear others thoughts on it.

I haven't read the book but decided to check out the movie because I'm interested in Joe Hill as a writer. I was happy to find it a unique story which indeed was somehow reminiscent of some of his dad's stuff. I especially liked how
other characters' natures changed while the protagonist was changing, and agree that some of that was really funny.
I felt the production was very good, and all the characters pertinent and entertaining. When I finally read the book I expect to like it.

I thought the supporting cast did an even better job than Radcliffe (and I've never seen a Harry Potter movie). As the movie progressed, his performance improved. From what I remember, the movie did stay true to the book. Hill was one of the Executive Producers, I think.

I've seen only parts of a couple of them. I used to be a huge fantasy fan, but in terms of literature. In those days there weren't many fantasy movies at all. I think I got a little burnt out on fantasy, so haven't been inclined to watch Potter or Narnia or LOTR movies, though a friend insisted I watch a couple of the LOTR ones and I really dug them.

This is one of those movies you pick up and put back on the shelf, then move on and forget about. Then, a month later, you find it in your hand again. I nearly bought this half a dozen times before i thought just buy the fecking thing.
And im glad i did.
Its like picking up Odd Thomas, or the Frighteners - ready for disappointment, but hoping for a smile or two during the flick.mThen, when the movie is done, your off down the vid shop to see if there is a sequel.

Really great effects, top notch acting, and compliments the book.

Heart shape box anyone?

This is the first Radcliffe film I've seen which has given me hope that he may turn out to be an OK actor. Of the 3 principal kids in the Potter films - well, Rupert Grint didn't have anything to do other than gormless double-takes and listening to Harry explain the plot until film 5, at which point he turned out to be quite good. Emma Watson, having been spectacularly awful in the first one (what on earth was going on with her mouth? It had a life of its own) was magnetically good by film 3, you couldn't take your eyes off her when she was on screen. And Radcliffe's performance in film 8 was exactly the same as it was in film 1 - Essex plank. Woman In Black was Potter with sidewhiskers: that, and a romcom he made, set me to thinking that he was OK as long as you placed him on a straight line starting at "amiable" and ending at "worried", where a 21st century estuary English accent wasn't out of place.

But in Horns, his accent was OK and his range was beyond what I expected him to be capable of.

Just finished the book this weekend and it was an easy, enjoyable read. Now I have to find the movie. Not on my pay services right now so I may have to shell out $2.99 on Vudu to see it. On to Needful Things, which is where I stopped reading King so many years ago. (I'm trying to go back and read the ones I skipped in order).

Saw this a while back.

I thought it was OK. Had the same opinion of the book. Ok, but not great.

Didn’t have an opinion of Radcliffe going in. Haven’t seen a Potter film or read more than a few chapters of the first book. Not a fan of Rowling at all. That said, Radcliffe was a good choice for Ig.
