I had to guess a little bit. I know I was in the 7th grade when I did a book report on "The Mist" (I was a weird, weird kid)... And I'd read "The Gunslinger" about 6 months before that...

So, about as long as it's been even mildly appropriate for me to be reading SK at all, let alone avidly. ;)

Also: Hi! Welcome! (In case I didn't welcome you already. My head gets a little fuzzy after 10pm.)

I can't believe it but just worked it out to be 41 years! I read Carrie when it first came out and I think that was 1975. Boy does it make me feel old, but it only seems like yesterday.

Yeah...it was '75 for me as well. I've gotta start passing my books around to the younger crowd through my grandkids. If the new kids ain't reading King they ain't paying attention.

Wow you guys are a couple of old farts, eh?

How dare you! It was last time I went down the rabbit hole I found in my kitchen. Mind you I did have a touch of wind at the time, is that an old fart?

One fan, different answers...

I did not read his books for a long time, just watched adaptations.

I loved "The Stand" (so did my brother) since it was first aired on TV here in Mexico, so I was 14 if it was 1994, 15 if it took them a year. That is the one I remember best, even if I may have watched others like "Christine" or "Cujo" as a kid.

Then I found out where to get his books starting with "Cell". After that, I tried to get as many of them as I could (but I still relied on what was being distributed as new paperbacks, so I missed "Under the Dome" back then, and if I did not get them soon, they would be gone from the store).

It must be around one or two years ago that I found a better book store that carries more books, included more SK books. They have older ones, and I can ask them to get the ones they do not have. Besides that, I have also used Amazon to get "The Stand" and "The Shining".
