....this was back in 2000, when I went with a group of guys that included my Uncle and my Dad...Unc goes every year with the same Outfitter who leases different lakes, but it was special because Dad and I hadn't been fishing together in a long time.....we fished primarily for Walleye....man that is a tasty game fish when first cleaned and thrown in some cornmeal/flour and fried!....the group hooked some Perch as well, but the biggest thing you had to fight around with was Northern Pike-those damn "snakes" will bite on anything!......
Northern Pike - we call them "jackfish" - they apparently are bony according to some so they'll take a picture then throw them back, but Andy tells me if you know how to bone a fish they can be good eating :biggrin::encouragement:

Edit: Here's a tip from a guy in Minnesota:

"The first thing I recommend doing before you clean any fish is be prepared. Know before you go fishing if you intend on keeping and eating any of the fish you are going to catch. If you are bring a cooler with ice to keep your fish in, if your boat has a live well that is great also.

Whatever you do just don't put them on a stringer. Fish on a stringer usually die and once they are dead you are unable to perform a very crucial step I learned a long time ago. You need to bleed your fish.

Years ago I was in Canada fishing and one of the guides would cut the throat of all the fish he caught and let them bleed out before filleting them. I have done this with fish ever since and will say that the fish I clean always seem to have a cleaner flavor when I cook them.

After you bleed your fish immediately put them on ice until you are ready to clean them."

...we had a couple of veteran filleters with us, and even they couldn't make those damn things edible....that or a generous application of frothy cold beverages....

Shirtsleeve weather.....grumps*. Dicky Dee is spotted. The Canadian Geese are back....but afraid they will not get back across the border when the fall comes.
Seen a lot of Canada geese flying over in formation (still no Dicky Dee bikes yet);

HA! I just got your joke - good one! :m_clap:
