This was on Monday. We got another 6 inches on Tuesday. At first it was pretty and fun, then it became annoying, then dangerous. We ended up with over 2 feet. Part of the barn collapsed (no animals in there, just junk) and part of the sunroom roof at the old house caved in. The roofs worried us so we shoveled off the ones on the rental homes (ours is steeply tilted so it's fine). B has missed three days of work and the power was out from Monday night until about 90 minutes ago. The fireplace insert does not heat this entire house. We do have a ginny but we don't like to use heaters w/thermostats as they trip the breaker. So the fridge was running and we had lights and even can watch DVDs. But, dayum it snow, you've abused the privilege!!

We have flood advisorys today. So they have decided to close the schools 2 hours early. Lots of rain happening this week.
What is it they say? "Turn around, don't drown"

- hoping you don't get hit with major flooding king family fan !

This is from Australia but the same rules apply - the part I find unrealistic is that she advises him to turn around and he actually does!

....we had the whole buffet of precip today: snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain.....as Bill the Cat was wont to say "ACK"!!!!.......couldn't see where I was on the road between a white out and no pavement visible and was concentrating on the road in front of me-that when I finally looked up-I had no clue where I was.....yep, the GNT was a bit perturbed.....

It was really windy this morning around four a.m. then it started pouring with rain. I had a dream with King in it as well. King was sitting in a chair by himself on a clay tennis court and he was being interviewed( the tennis court was the one I played at when I did tennis at school, the ones at Cooper Park in Woollahra, and then I ended up with KIng in London at some nightclub then he said he had to go. The I was walking around some big Department Store like Harrod's. I went to some nightclub in London back in 1986 I think it was the Marquee Club. It isn't too cool today, it has been raining but it isn't too bad.
There's a really interesting website I just was looking at with pictures of people from music going to places in London in the 80's. The Batcave in London would have been my hangout.

I've had mine out only long enough to clean the ashes for the last two weeks. Mrs. CReeder loves her wood stove!
I clean ours every time before I light a new fire. Hubby never does so when he was home for a week because of the snow, he just kept feeding logs without de-ashing. We use those formed logs (which burn hot and for a long time) and they leave klinkers. When he finally went to work and I was able to clean the stove.... yikes!

There's a picture of David Bowie checking out a fan's(?) record collection. I don't think it was the Marquee Club in London, I went too, it was supposed to be the club where the 'trendys' used to go. I went with my schoolmate over to England and he was penpals with this English bloke who worked at Pinewood Studios, and he was working on the set of Aliens, and they'd just chuck things away once the film was made, so he had the decal of the 'Bug Stomper' thing when the go down to the planet on the 'dropship' when the female pilot goes 'where in the pipe, five by five'. There's also a picture of Kurt Cobain in London signing an autograph.
