Unless you have a "smart TV", you may have to get a "box" to plug into your tv. I'm not good with technology, so if I'm wrong, maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in .
Before we had a smart tv, we had a Roku box (it's tiny and cheap and no monthly fees) that plugs into the tv and you can access the Internet on your tv(as long as you have wi-fi).
You can get Hulu on there (and Netflix and YouTube - anything you can watch online, you can watch on TV).

I believe you can also watch Hulu on your computer, laptop or tablet.

Thanks, 80sFan! I wanted to ask about Roku, but didn't know if it was relevant to the discussion.
So, the idea behind Hulu (and Roku if you need a box to convert your tv to be "smart') is that you can watch online media on the bigger screen of your television set?

I think there is a subscription fee to access Hulu and NetFlix? I have used YouTube for a long time and know how that works.

I suppose having access to Hulu and NetFlix replaces cable tv? I know NetFlix offers movies, but I am not familiar with what content Hulu offers.

Yes, Netflix requires a subscription (rates vary, depending on different plans). We have Hulu Plus and that's like $8/month. I think you can get limited Hulu for free, but there is less content, more ads.

^ Exactly :)

We have been cable-free since last fall. Our family doesn't watch much TV. My son likes "Arthur" (watches 17 seasons free on Amazon Prime - $99 for an entire year and free shipping on Amazon orders) but no other shows. My daughter doesn't watch tv at all. My husband likes sports but we have an HD antenna (again cheap, one-time cost) so he can watch games. We all like movies and TV series that are no longer on so we have Netflix for that.
It's not for everyone, but it works for us.

Ok I apologize for my not technically advanced. What is hulu, how can I get it. I hope it doesn't involve hooking up a bunch of wires and cards to my TV cause 8m not good with that. I don't even have a smart tv so I might be out of luck right there cause I heard hulu has to do with internet.
You don't need a smart TV to hook up a Roku (there are other streaming box things, too, but we've been very happy with our Roku). You can also stream Hulu Plus ($8/mo), Netflix ($8/mo for streaming only), Amazon ($99/yr, but there are often $49/yr deals available), VUDU (pay per item viewed), and other channels through some gaming systems. Our upstairs 'kid' tv is an older box-type, and we watch Hulu and Netflix through my son's Wii. Until he got a blu-ray player that had streaming functions built in, my older son streamed Netflix through his XBox360. They are all available through the internet on a computer, too (MANY free movie sites online, as well as the ones where you pay). We decided to get rid of cable a couple of years ago, and have rarely missed it. $16/mo (Hulu and Netflix) is WAY better than the over $200/mo we were paying for cable--lol.

My son got an XBox1 for Christmas last year and was trying to hook it up recently but could not figure it out. (He already had a PS3 so was in no great rush to test it out).

Maybe we should look into this. We have Shaw - Shaw TV, Shaw Home Phone and Shaw Internet at the moment.

You still need an internet connection, because the shows are streamed. Our internet is about $69/mo (not cheap, but it's in use nearly 24 hours a day, so it's worth it).

The internet (alone - no cable or other services) is about $59/month here. It's worth it, but I sure wish it was cheaper!! :biggrin2:
Oh heck, so do I! There are a couple of other providers who might be cheaper (not sure, I haven't checked prices in a while), but everyone I know who has tried them says they're glitchy. Comcast internet has been good for us.

Hi!
Does anybody know if Hulu is available outside US? I'm very curious about 11/22/63 series and trying to find the ways to watch it.
There will be international distribution but I don't have a list yet from Hulu to pass along. As soon as I do, though, we'll be sure to post it on all of Stephen's social media sites.

So Hulu requires an internet connection, but you can't just connect a laptop to your TV? I have a cable for doing that...somewhere. Presumably these devices use WiFi for internet connection? (This sounds about as weird as the old days when people would have to climb to the highest point in the area and fiddle with wires and antennas to get reception. Special magic channels that don't come from regular channel-type sources.)

(If I have to buy something to do this, I need to know what to get and when to order it to be in time.)

Also, February, why February? Not Kennedy's birthday or death anniversary, not Oswald's birthday or death anniversary, not even Stephen King's birthday! Not the anniversary of anything Kennedy-related which springs to mind*. Why this particular date?

*Ted Kennedy and his daughter Kara were born in February as was Bobby's son Michael Kennedy, which has what to do with the price of eggs in China?

Wiki says:
Washington's Birthday is a United States federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February in honor of George Washington, the first President of the United States, who was born on February 22, 1732.

The 22nd of February is also known as President's Day in US.
