Comcast sucks.

We already know that but this was a new low. This happened last week. My mother's cable quit working and I went down there to try and get it working but I couldn't. She just had a blue screen with a number to call Comcast on her tv. So, I told her she was going to have to call the number. We all know that is the last resort that you want to do because you have to go through a couple hours of trying to explain your problem to a machine (and that doesn't work) before you can get a human. Anyway after two days of going through phone hell with Comcast, Comcast finally determined that her problem was a bad remote. The person that she was talking to her asked, "do you want me to mail you a new one or do you want to come pick it up?" My mom said she would pick it up. Mom drove to the Comcast office that is about 30 minutes from her house and it was closed. All of the Comcast offices were closed because of covid. I'm sure the person she was talking to must have known that. So, then she had to get on the phone and go through all that bs again to get someone to determine she had a bad remote and mail it to her.

The 2nd person she talked to apologized for the first person's error and then admitted to my mother that Comcast gives all the old crappy equipment to the condo people (I think that is because most of the condos negotiate bulk rates for the residents). The 2nd person sent her a brand new remote instead of a used one and it made everythig good again. I was kind of surprised a bad remote would keep your cable box from working but it will.

I've been trying to pick up stuff for mom as much as possible so she doesn't have to go out during the pandemic and would have gone to the cable office for her (and probably smashed the door when I found it closed :)) but she probably felt bad for calling me down there so much for all the cable troubles she has had lately and went herself without telling me.

Calming vibes for your mom. May this remote remain working for a long time, and no more cable issues! THank you for caring so much for your mom.

Any plans for Mother's Day??

Not yet. It's such a difficult thing. My sister is in Orlando and she thought maybe we could meet at an uncrowded park half way and could get take out from somewhere. I told her to find one that isn't on the water (because I'm sure those will be jammed). My sister has pretty bad asthma and I'm not comfortable with her going out anywhere with many people. She found one in Palm Bay but that turned out to be closed until May 15. Then mom hurt her ankle (nothing too serious) and needs to keep it elevated for a few days so that probably screws up any plans for meeting my sister half way. So, I'm still working on it. :)

Healing vibes for your mom. May your sister remain safe. How about next weekend- less crowds?

That might work. I'll still go down to see her Sunday even if my sister isn't around. I'll probably do takeout. I'm not comfortable with the restaurant situation.

Funny thing is I'm more concerned about covid now than I've been for the past two months. When we were in semi lock down, I was being careful and didn't really feel that unsafe. My area didn't have very many cases. Now that things are opening back up again, I'm very concerned. People are acting like it's over. I find myself thinking about precautions more now than I did before which seems to be the exact opposite of many others.

Total agree about greater concerns now . My area, on the opposite side as you, never did completely lock down. Now, the only masks one sees ina store is the employees! Traffic crazy. Stores filled. Just do not understand the mindthink!
