Some punk has been cutting my Christmas lights. I go pretty all out for outside Christmas decorations and I make sure our house draws people to come look at our lights. Two strands in particular were cut, but one of them was a long one that went a good ways around the perimeter of the yard. 40 dollars worth of lights shot to all hades that I had to replace.

My guess is it's one of the teenagers that ride the school bus that stops right in front of our house in the mornings. It's obvious an animal didn't do it or that it was wind damage. These were clean and deliberate cuts from a pair of scissors in multiple sections. I don't understand why some brat would do that. I really don't. Not only is it trespassing it is also destruction of property. Is that what kids get their kicks from these days?

That is disgusting. In our neighborhood people go around stealing outside decorations. Nothing is safe anymore.hopefully they won't do it anymore.

Maybe it's a neighbor who doesn't like the traffic and attention it draws.

Or, maybe it's someone who decorates and is jealous.

Or, maybe it's a drug dealing house close by that can't do business because of all the activity.

;)

Funny thing is I call my neighbors the Griswolds because they decorate their yard over the top, too. I like to think we have an unspoken competition with each other. He has a lot more yard ornaments and decorations, but mine are all LED and look better. :D

Hate to spoil it for you but kids have gotten their kicks that way every decade.

Yeah, I know. Doesn't mean it's cool. :( I've already talked with all of my immediate neighbors just to see if they've seen anything. If I got to talk to everyone in the neighborhood I will. I'll catch them in the act sooner or later if they want to keep acting cute.

I am angry because of a co-worker who repeatedly volunteers to do things then cancels at the last minute!! We have been planning for 2 months for to do a Junior Achievement volunteer event where we work with high school students in a hands-on budget simulation. This person signed up to help on day one. Today, we found out that she can't attend tomorrow. This is literally the 4th time she has signed up to do something then cancelled day of or day before the event. I have decided next time, I will just remove her from the list and say, sorry, we have plenty! Grrrrr!!!

Sounds like a good plan. Hope the event will be a big success.

I just find it wrong to sign up for something and back out. esspecially several times. I understand when there are situations they may have no control over.

I agree! I know that things come up and that is ok. If it hadn't happened so much, I would never have said a thing. Oh well! We're going to make the best of it and have a great day anyway!

The first online group I joined for SK fans was run by a guy that did awesome decorations. I saw some of his YouTube videos.

This is the last straw. Another light strand was cut today. So I went on Amazon to buy two fake cameras and some security stickers to put outside. This is only going to be a deterrent and a temporary solution, but hopefully it's one that will work at least for a little while. I'm still going to get some real cameras soon once I can figure out what brand I want to get and what kind of installation process I'll be looking at. It's a matter of principle now.

I can't believe people do this. I mean, I can (and it wouldn't surprise me if it was some former employee), but why? I don't know if it is something personal or just random meanness and not knowing is really bothering me right now even more so than the act of vandalism itself.

Man that stinks, someone has an ax to grind against you..can you shave the plastic off the wires, twist them together, put electrical tape on them and try again? Obviously only if they are not plugged in..dunno about the fake cameras, sounds like you may need a real little camera that focusses on the spot where they are most likely to attack.. dumb asses, hope you catch them..

I'm trying to wire the wires back together. I wish I had a little real camera right now. I plan on putting some real cameras outside. I am just waiting a few days for the next payday. Meanwhile I'm hoping the 13 bucks I spent for two fake cameras will be a somewhat worthwhile investment. If it scares them away then great. If not then I'll know who they are when I get the real cameras out there.
