Bahahahahaha...I had a buddy that found a snake in his bed one winter. It was around this time of year now that I think of it. You know you'll be checking.

If you are cold, they are cold. Bring them inside. A friend of mine sitting by a stove which was the only warmth in a freezing cabin was visited by a mouse which was cold enough and desperate enough to climb up inside his pants leg and nestle under his kneecap.

At our grandparents' farm--an eerie place Stephen King would have loved--my sister was crossing in front of the refrigerator when a rat ran across her bare foot. She freaked because she could feel all its little claws! About nine years later she freaked again when she was making a fruit salad for our other sister's wedding, cut open a peach or nectarine, and the pit was hollow and an earwig crawled out! She hates crawly things worse than anything so she is always the one when a bird or a bat is around it dive bombs her head.

Happy today because I got the last of the books for Christmas presents for kids in the mail! I repaired and cleaned 55 books for 11 kids, working up till afternoon on Christmas day. 8 of the kids I delivered presents to in person, 2 I left at a house and left a message with their grandma that I had done so, but one was out of town so had to mail the package, paying way more than I did for the books! They all seemed pleased with what I chose for them and some in particular made a huge hit!

That's hilarious, but I bet she wasn't laughing, huh? Did you read DJ's peach-earwigs story?

What the L is that?!?!?

That would totally freak me out! I would never eat another piece of fruit without cutting it into quarters first.

Same here

I had one of Steffens heart attack moments this morning. I was sitting in the laundry room having coffee and a cig when something furry ran into the room. I screamed and it ran out towards the kitchen so I yelled for hubby, "Mouse!" We blocked off the doorways leading to the kitchen and opened the back door but everytime it would run towards me, I'd scream and it would run back under the stove or fridge. Hubby kept telling me not to scream so I had to keep reminding him I'm a girl, I can't help it. Hubby was finally able to sweep the mouse towards the back door and it ran outside.

I'm happy today because the mouse is ok but the mouse is not in the house :)
My youngest cat Bailey (the lone one now) has caught two mice recently (about a week or so apart).

He was quite proud of himself and ran upstairs while I was in bed reading and deposited the mice (still half alive) on my bed. I had to pick them up by the tail and then humanely flush them down the toilet.

I figure it's better to drown quickly than freeze to death slowly [it was around minus 30 or so at the time this happened]

Glad he has not found any since - hopefully there were only two!

lol... beware of gifts from cats :) Bailey did good! Did you praise him? Mouse (my dog) caught a mouse (a real mouse) a few months ago. She left it in the walk-in closet where hubby could step on it... and he did lol.

I really wish I had given Mouse (my dog) a doggy name. Conversations about critters get confusing :(

That's good - I guess Hubby did not find it amusing?

Compliment of the day! I went to show Mom something on my iPhone and pointed out how my Facebook profile photo shows up on my phone and then said, "That's not a picture of me." Mom is like, "What, that's not you?" True, the picture was tiny and rather dimly lit, but still, thanks for the compliment! Until further notice my profile picture is set to this:

In 1975 I was walking up the road with Sam, my dog, and there was a dog up the road, Jedda, who used to hang around and he found a rat in the corner of an entrance (one of those big sliding warehouse doors) and he grabbed it a ripped it to pieces. I've never seen a rat indoors but mice, yes. It's Malcolm Young's birthday today.

who are you with? (Hope it's not rude to ask.)

That is Ray Bradbury kissing me, not the other way around! It was my profile picture for a long time but was just too happy to use following the election. From election night until Carrie Fisher passed away, I had this:

14962673_10211254317658952_7438921273532370452_n.jpg

Then, Carrie being such an influence I decided to put her picture up and leave it until I have a real reason to change it. I am glad my profile picture here did not automatically change when the Facebook and cell phone photos did, so the Bradbury photo is still up!
