Anne of Green Gables hated Algebra...... One of the reasons i like her...... I managed to pass in school, just, but havent used it since. Actually the only test i ever failed in school and university was crystal physics. Could not make ot which side was head or tail of that subject. Congrats! Everyone passing an algebra test have done a great deed according to me.

Awesome! Hats off to ya! How'd you manage to do it, then? You been doing all that writing and algebra, too.

Algebra for me, in high school, was a nightmare. Grace Gaffney, purple hair, bent fingers, smelling for mints, old lady earrings tight against her lobes, cat-eye glasses, chain. Alice Cooper eye-shadow. Heh! Naw, kidding on the last! She was a little old lady from Pass-er-deener, couldn't keep her foot off the accelerator. You miss day one, you're lost. Day twenty you're bug-eyed and thinkin of climbin a tower. So when I had to take algebra again, college, I made a point of heading to the library to "get" that day's lessons. And I did that every day and I did pass. Byron Dyce...he was at the Olympics in Mexico, he was the algebra instructor.

Haven't used algebra too much that I know about. Lots of something, geometry maybe? Area? Square footage, cubic yards, that kind of thing. Had to figure area and material for a gazebo this once. Called my brother up and asked him. Basically a rectangle and some triangles I think. I have pics. Polaroids. Yeah, it's been awhile. I think they use algebra for polling. Phone rings, you pick up, if x, and y is off yonder scowling at a cell phone, what happens to z? Are you fairly sure, certainly certain, posilutely fabmulon, or n?

Congratulations Congratulations!

I failed algebra when i was still at my old college but i got a high grade in my new university. Guess what. . I'm using Trigonometry more than to the algebra to my archi math subjects like Statics, Strength of Materials, Theory of Structures and steel and timber design.

I'm quite sick of those but i need it.

Good job! Way to go!

Silly people. They use algebra all the time. No, we don't sit at home and think of 2(a+b)=c equations. But the logic that goes into it, the linear method of calculation, the breaking of an issue into component parts - we do that all the time. We just don't call it x, y, z.

Besides, if you do like algebra, and if you can do well at it, it's a gateway mind-drug to calculus and physics and understanding with better clarity the very nature of the universe.

(We use physics all the time too. We just don't realize it. When we scoot the bookshelf across the room in such a way that it won't tip over? That's physics. Can't let the center of gravity vector go outside of the base without a countervailing force.)

I failed algebra. My brain just doesn't work that way. Oh, I gave it my best shot back in school. Did half a semester. We got to do our work in class everyday, teacher wrote the problems on the board, said, "have at it". Then the sadistic freak would put on old Spike Jones records, play em really loud when we tried concentrating. If you've ever heard Spike Jones, you'd know how disruptive all those bells, hoots, whistles, beeps, sound fx, can be.

Never understood why that teacher did that. But anyway, nah...my brain can't do it.

Yeah... Gravity is mean! and that "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction" law is mean too! If I were to try to scoot a bookcase across the floor, the dang thing would fall on me :(

Ironically, Newton's third law of motion is my favorite among the three laws os motion. Everytime i watched science of stupid philippines and the host is going to mention it, i'll repeat after him.

I always use physics in my math subjects right now lol. And i quite love Physics more than Algebra
