Personally I thought the only good thing about Rose Red was the SK cameo.
It wasn't that bad. Well maybe it was. My wife tells me I have a love for cheesy movies. She's right.

Don't get me wrong I love cheesy movies too, and bad SK adaptations are almost a genre of their own which I like to indulge in. I find The Mangler and Cat's eyes almost delectable in how bad they are for example, they're fun to watch on that basis but I don't know what it was about Rose Red I couldn't even enjoy it like that, I guess it wasn't bad enough, lol, or it didn't catch me in the right mood.
I never heard of that one but thanks for the recommendation, I'll look it up, the title seems promising!Maybe that was it. I saw The Omega Man in 1974 at a local drive-in. I was six years old and I've been a fan of that movie ever since. I now own it on Blue-ray. My wife can't stand it.Just one of many cornball movies that occupy a special place in my heart.
Wow. It's one of Chuck Heston's greatest movies. Forget that cheapo Ten Commandments or that low grade Ben Hur. The Omega Man and Soylent Green are his masterpieces. Oh and honorable mention goes to Airport 75 and Earthquake.I never heard of that one but thanks for the recommendation, I'll look it up, the title seems promising!
I agree. Love The Omega Man. I have it on my DVR as we speak, I think TMC showed it -- someone did anyway.Wow. It's one of Chuck Heston's greatest movies. And to think I never heard of either of them! I'll remedy that asap, cheers !Wow. It's one of Chuck Heston's greatest movies. Forget that cheapo Ten Commandments or that low grade Ben Hur. Ah well I've done my duty and spread the word about Chuck Heston's seventies science-fiction classics. Enjoy. And to think I never heard of either of them! I'll remedy that asap, cheers !
Thanks CheckmanAh well I've done my duty and spread the word about Chuck Heston's seventies science-fiction classics. Enjoy.
It was suspenseful and the characters were alright (although not fully developed and relying on old archetypes) but it wasn't scary to me. I liked the pizza guy scene, too. Hilarious.Loved Rose Red. Not a Doctor Who fan, but I get the Tardis reference. I am a fan of haunted house stories and that one is a cracker. Plus, you get SK as the pizza guy.
Not scary, but still enjoyable. As with a lot of these stories, the book was better. It was suspenseful and the characters were alright (although not fully developed and relying on old archetypes) but it wasn't scary to me. I liked the pizza guy scene, too. Hilarious.
...indeed, but I still have it as part of my SK collection.....There was no book of Rose Red, only a screenplay. The tie-in book The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer was written by Ridley Pearson.
