Okay then - meet you in Last to Post!
I'm just playing with you, Neese.
...oh, you WERE listening for once...I loved Cell......but I'm pretty sure I'm still crazy.....at least that's what GNT says.....
...no, you're wrong AGAIN....coffee, black....Kettle. Black.
I also agree, one minute I was loving the story and the next I was ready to stop reading it. There was a lot of wasted time but I do love SK's writing no matter what; didn't quite understand the ending or how the book could possibly end.The ending was a letdown and almost entirely predictable.
Credit is due where it is owed, however, as King manages to instill a sense of trademark carnage in the beginning that is awfully fun to read. It's the same kind of sensory overload that The Stand conveyed when Captain Tripps was in full swing (Which is to say awesome!).
It tends to be a bit...challenged with pacing however. The characters are content to do nothing and a lot of it feels like unnecessary filler. The part where the man who won the Ebay auction in real life to have a character in the book, the one who blew himself up, was so unbearably phoned in.
I don't really believe anyone could be considered crazy for disliking the novel. I'm not a huge fan of it, bit then I'm not a huge fan of his more recent titles.
I agree totally - couldn't recommend the book nor sure about the ending - my opinion might be different if the ending was different - I almost did not finish reading the book even after being drawn in from the beginning. It's actually one of the few books of his I simply don't like. It starts off splendidly. Fast, lean, intense but I just remember the book losing steam a little before the half way mark. It seemed to meander and shuffle it's feet. It's the rare occasion where I felt King didn't know what he was looking to do exactly.
Problem is before you know it you're snorting pulp fiction.Hey, you know not all books have to be filet mignon. Sometimes a quick hamburger is good too.
I enjoyed this one as well,im normally not a big zombie fan but i really liked this oneI absolutely loved the book Cell. There are people who say that it wasn't King's best work, or that it lacked some of that good old Stephen King Magic. There is no way that King lacks his personal magic in any of his books and I thought this book was great! I don't know if some of you don't like zombie stories or what the issue is but I thought this book was a great read. Also, the book was sad at times, however, it is not like the whole book was sad. I think that every one should do a re-read on this book, and that they should make sure to make it through. I do think that King writes to suit many different palates and tastes, and this is what makes him the writer that he is (awesome). I was just shocked to read that so many King fans disliked this book!
Hope you enjoy it as much as i did.I'm on page 180 or so... I find in my old age I skim over the gory details... but I am curious about how it's going to play out....
I think we are all a little over saturated with zombies at the moment, but it was an original take on how everyone got "infected". .
When you write a message, a tool bar pops up. There is a rectangle that contains a happy face. Do you see that? Go to the far right icon in that box, it's a letter looking icon (I think that's what it is), right next to the negative movie clip icon.Boy, are we ever. Every other book on Book Bub is about zombies. I never really understood some elements of Cell. I won't say more since I don't know how to use spoiler tags.
Never ever skim with sK.I'm on page 180 or so... I find in my old age I skim over the gory details... but I am curious about how it's going to play out....
