Please tell me that the photographer took this child to the UN relief place and saved its life? This is horrible!!!!That was actually the first one that came to my mind from the term "iconic pictures." Another was the Marines on Iwo.
This one hit me square between the eyes. Just don't have the words.

My favorite poster of all time.
My understanding of the event is that the child was indeed rescued.
That's my understanding as well, although there's another report that the fate of the child was forever unknown.
The photographer received the Pulitzer Prize and killed himself three months later.
Two more. One of more a more recent event.
The other was the Depression brought to vivid terms.
I hate guns, because sometimes I wish I had one with a bullet in the chamber.
