If u had to read one Stephen King book to a group of 14 year olds who haven't read any king before to get them hooked which one would it be.

Then same scenario but the age is 34. Would it be same book or different. Remember it's a book to get them hooked. Right away I thought it would be my favorite king book but then I decided that was too long for an introductory book to get them hooked. U might think totally different though. Very interested to see your picks.

For a 14 year old, I would say Salem's Lot or Pet Sematary. 14 year olds today are exposed to way more than either of these books offer. Of course, you would have to judge that selection on the 14 year old's maturity. That age group likes to be titillated.

For an adult: I would recommend the older short story collections. Little sips of wonderful stories that will hook them immediately.

I like the gunslinger for the 14 year old. I was going with misery for the adult but there is a good chance they saw the movie and wanted something to start as a clean slate. Mr. Mercedes. 1 cause it really is a great novel. Plus I wanted them to realize that king didn't just do horror books. I just just here them now. " I had no idea" lol
