It's actually one of my favourite Stephen King books. George Stark just oozes cold & cool. I found the plot to be really interesting too :) I'm not sure why King says its his least favourite :(

Where did he say it was his least favorite? I didn't know that. Yeah, in my top 12. I read it when it came out in 2 days. Misery, Dolores Claiborne and Gerald's Game are the only other times I can remember compulsively reading until the end. Very strong narrative. For the genre he was emulating I think he nailed it.

I could swear he said it somewhere, but then again maybe it was a misquote since I found an article saying it was Tabitha that considered her least favourite. The stories shares similarities with Rear Window(which is good in its own right) but Dark Half just sort of nails it for me. The idea if an alter ego being breathed into life because he's taken on a life of his own from your own self & writing is just brilliant.

I thought The Tommyknockers was his least favorite. Then I heard "Rose Madder" was his least favorite. Which would be sad, because The Dark Half and Rose Madder are in my top 10. The Dark Half is the first SK book that every truly scared the ever living snot out of me. My roommate would come home, every light, the stereos, the TV would be on and I would be in my bed, under the covers. "Dammit, Michelle, how many times have I told you...DON'T READ THAT BOOK UNLESS I'M HERE!!"
