so...who else has one of these magic items?

I got one for Christmas, and gave one to each of my daughter-in-laws. One was thrilled as she had planned to buy herself one. The other was scared. However, she has started using it and loves it.

Tonight I made Turkey Noodle Soup and it was delicious. I have never successfully made a noodle soup before. After cutting everything it took about 1/2 to cook. Turkey was leftovers from a Christmas.

I have one and like it but haven't taken the time to learn how to adapt recipes to use it more. Am hoping to do so this year.

I was given one as a Christmas gift and I’ve used it a few times now. My initial thought was “where has this been all my life?” :hmm: Cooked a 4 lb beef roast with veggies in an hour and a half, was worried it might be tough or under-cooked, but turned out very succulent and tender. :okay: Enjoy and feel free to share recipes!

I have one and I'm still learning but it's pretty awesome. There is a black eyed peas and sausage links dish that I make once in a while and what I used to do was cook the black eyed peas and set aside (with some pea water ;-D). Brown the sausage with onions and mix up some bar B-Q sauce, mustard brown sugar and pea water, put everything in a baking dish, and bake for 90 minutes. So, there's 3 hours of cooking the peas plus the baking time.

With the Instant Pot, I brown the sausage and onions in the pot and add everything else (including uncooked dried peas), add water to cover and pressure cook for 30 minutes. It's quicker and less mess plus the black eyed peas come out better than what I can do on the stove. Black eyed peas are really tricky on the stove. There's a fine line between not done and split open mushy. I think all dried beans will be superior pressure cooked than on the stove.

Thanks! I have an Instant Pot cookbook on my iPad, too. It's as much about changing my habits to use the Instant Pot rather than my old ways, too, if I'm being honest.

My first attempt was a beef stew. In a slow cooker you don’t need a lot of liquid. In the IP you do. I got the dreaded BURN message.

Made some delicious rice pudding, which I have never been successful with before.

I tried a stew and got the burn message too. I thought maybe I had too much stuff in the pot. What I did was change it to slow cook and had it the next day. So it worked out.
