The Institute has sold over 450,000 copies so far according to the latest Publishers Weekly chart. Not sure, but I think that is a recent high for King in terms of sales. Looks like the book is playing well to fans and new readers (at least, that is my speculation).

Glad to see this. Maybe some of the It popularity is bringing in new fans.

'The Institute' is the first time I've not seen him at number one on the Winnipeg McNally weekly book sales list in the Saturday edition of the Winnipeg Free Press. For some reason I was a bit disgruntled about that. I guess it's time to check other lists across Canada and quit my job and move to where he is number one. I do have a marketable skill that would get me work in almost any urban area and I have been practising hard in front of the mirror. Here is a taste..."Hello. Welcome to Wal-mart." :)

I read somewhere that "bestseller" lists like that of the NY Times are not based on sales. They are just books that someone decides are the most popular that week. It's a bit misleading although self-perpetuating since the books that are placed on the "bestseller" list are likely to sell more copies for that reason.

I was happy to get a first edition of The Institute for Christmas this year (Have not read it) - I did order the large type edition from the library a while back and it just came in a couple of days ago.

It also was not number one in edmontons list either I can even rember if it made the top 5. I am wondering if it was because margret atwood was released the same week, so that may have affected sales in Canada, as she is ours.

Do you need to read Large Print books too? I can still read regular type but I prefer the large print as it's easier on my eyes
