i didn't catch it until someone pointed it out, but i suck at catching stuff like that. missed the freese's and tracker brother shirts in earlier trailers. i hope they merchandise those shirts by the way.

Me neither. I only just read that article I posted. I'm trying to rope in some friends to go see it with me but they're either too scared (they're in their 30s/40s fer crying out loud) or they're scared that I'm so excited for the movie. :flat:

luckily one of my roommates wants to go. he runs a haunted house during halloween season. couple other friends have expressed some interest. although i'm not above going alone if i want to see a movie (and likely will the 2nd and possibly 3rd times i see this lol)

Looks awesome! I have high hopes for this one. I just finished re-reading for the fourth time a few months back in preparation. My wife is almost done with her first read. This really looks like a better adaptation. Most of the negative comments I've seen are those comparing it to the miniseries. Sure Tim curry was awesome, but this looks like it'll be an adaptation king readers may actually enjoy.

What an excellent trailer. I know I've seen a lot of people griping about it. About too many jump scares or that Pennywise's voice is no good or whatever. A couple of people said that Pennywise's voice is too scary. Which I don't understand. But I found it was a nice balance of creepy and intense imagery and atmosphere and dread. I think this the proper way you market a horror movie. Don't show a lot, set up atmosphere, build the feeling of dread, and I thought it was closed nicely with the ending jump scare. Another thing that has bothered me is numerous people worrying about too many jump scares. I've taken many looks back at said trailer and can only count 2. And both of them seem to be cut for the trailer. The scenes are just too slow to match up with the sudden sound effect. At any rate I think people are just getting antsy since we are getting so close to release date.

I know it is too early to say, but damn, this feels like the SK adaptation I've been waiting to see my entire life. Did anyone notice the little details, like Pennywise's eyes in the sewer? When we first see him, the eyes are glowing yellow. When he is charming Georgie, they are a nice warm blue. When you are putting in little details like that, it is a really good sign, methinks.
The trailer got me in the mood, so I started re-reading It (again ... not sure what iteration this is, but I might be pulling even with Roland on his repeated quest) ... and in the Georgie scene, he first sees yellow eyes, and then convinces himself that he was wrong, since the clown's eyes were blue. My hopes for this adaptation just went up even higher, if that is possible.

one of the things i like from the new trailer: the fact that the individual encounters with It have actual menace and appearance of danger. upon seeing a few comparisons between new and old, i'm reminded that in the miniseries, the first encounter most of them had with It consisted of It showing up, talking a little smack to them, and then promptly disappearing with no real effort to hurt them, which is very untrue to the book (with the exception of bill and beverly's encounters). not as bad as the way the miniseries treated the adults, who constantly whined that they weren't sure they wanted any part of this and they were going to leave town, but a let down on both ends really.

I don't see anything wrong with jump scares provided that they're at least somewhat organic to the events of the story (meaning: no screeching cats or fluttering birds please). I mean, isn't that part of the thrill of seeing a horror movie? You know it's coming and a good filmmaker will play on those expectations and try to trick you. See The Conjuring - there's some great jump scares in that flick.

the funny thing about the scary voice thing actually, is that some of the stuff i've seen on the old movie lately shows that at that same point in the encounter with georgie in the first movie, tim curry had gone full creep mode too.
