I just cant imagine. WHO WILL BE PENNYWISE!!!! will they flashback to the childhoods properly. Will it take away the scary if they do IT wrong. IT is just one thing I really REALLY don't want to see f'd up. I have personal attachment to this book. I have been able to re read IT over again without IT getting old and if they make the movie again I will have no choice but to see it and then if it blows... when I go to read IT again the movie images will pop into my mind instead of my imagination playing the book. I know this because some how Tom Cruise got his grubby little hands on the Jack Reacher role and I have only been able to read one Jack Reacher novel since then and I cant picture Reacher as anything other then Tom Cruise. And I am not in anyway comparing Jack reacher novels to KING novels that's like comparing uuuuuuuh I don't know things not in the same playing field.
A movie's telling of a story usually varies in feel from that of an existing one. Anyone going into a movie theater demanding the exact same feel will usually come out disappointed.

Not sure if this will help ease your concerns any but also found this article in which the director says he had doubts but was blown away by Poulter's audition. :smile2:

OH hey here is something. When I was a kid a talked my older brother into taking me to see The Green Mile. I just liked the way it looked. Wasn't aware I was a Stephen king fan I just read books and if I liked it would read more kind of thing. So here were are watching the green mile I am a kid and a girl so it was probably considered ok to get choked up but I was trying so hard to hide it then I look to my left BAM the older dare I saw god like teenage brother has tears rolling down as they are about to pull the switch to my right random stranger swallowing over and over to fight off the choking tears. that movie was EPIC to me. Well they re released the book at the same time. I talk my mom into letting me go look at the toys and wouldnt you know it the books were sold right next to them. Stephen king The green mile. "MOM I HAVE TO GET THIS!" she looked stumped then said "Stephen king writes bad books, they are just scary and violent and no good absolutely not." then "But Tom hanks was in the movie look he is on the book its not bad I already saw the movie COME OOOOOOOOOOON! i will never ask for anything again ever. Ill do all the chores you could ever think of. I will work it off forever come oooooon. " "WHAT do you mean you watched the movie" did the store just get smaller? "uuuuuuuuh its uuuuuuuh well i i i (come on tears dont fail me now) i it was a good movie it wasnt bad." "You dont need the book you watched the movie" "But......books are more important they have more detail." "Dammit fine but you better believe you will need that book because you are not watching tv for a week." "ok (que sad face while inside thinking a week sounds about right to read this its like a week long birthday). For the brothers being forced to read and no TV would have been a good punishment. But for me it was mind expanding
about a year ago I got a collection of the books The green mile because I guess it was originally published in a series. Still got all teary eyed. It was still beautiful and so is the movie.
But that is just how it worked out for me. Lucky being born into the Kingdom late I still had my imagination and childhood when I read a few of these books.

well thanks I just have a lot of respect for Mr. King and for some reason never thought to look at his website. So it is neat to talk about it with fans of all these different varieties!!!

And as for giving the film a "new" look, and going "younger": Let me guess, all the childhood scenes will now take place in the summer of 88 instead of 58? Or, perhaps, some even LATER decade, thus allowing for a cast of, oh gosh and golly, 'young adult' stars--cause, you know, it's a HORROR film, and we need that younger crowd...

Man, this AINT friggin Hunger Games, people. Don't need no steenkin updates, don't need to pander to the kids. God, this just sounds like Hollywood garbage.

This has totally ruined my morning! Arrrrrrrgggghhh!

I am all for a new IT movie, but without Tim Curry as Pennywise I think I will just come away disappointed. He was downright terrifying and that was with very little special/practical effects. He was at his scariest in his regular scenes. I worry that too much CGI and computer stuff/Hollywood crap will be implemented and bring down the whole movie.

I am not a pessimist though and will give IT a fair shot- if it ever comes out, but, no Tim Curry already has me down about it.

The new guy does have a certain creepy-ness to him and I could see him playing the role well, but he will never be "Pennywise", Tim Curry is.

I've read recently they cast the new Pennywise, a young actor. I can see how with makeup they could make him up to be a creepy clown, but can it possibly top Tim Curry? In my opinion, no! Here's why: I saw this movie as a 10 year old for the first time and it haunted me for years--YEARS! And as I've gotten older, I've realized what a cheesy movie it is, but still get the chills the first time Pennywise pops out of the drain, the first time Tim Curry says "oh yes, they all float" and he's almost got this orgasmic look on his face. Creepy stuff. I can't imagine any of the characters played by some new Hollywood cast. The first group, the young ones especially, were relatively unknown & never did much after IT, for the most part. I just can't imagine someone well known playing the beloved Eddie or Stan. Even though this movie version strayed from the book in a lot of ways, I still enjoy it. I don't really want to see some modern gory version, but maybe that's just me!
