I've no problem with a well known character being played by another actor. Disappointed about Fukunaga and the studio parting ways as I was really looking forward to the two movie structure he had set up. Now I doubt that structure will remain in place.

I looked into the new director, who has only done one other movie, a horror film Mama. Never seen it, but I don't really get into just straight up horror movies. Bummer about Fukunaga

I have no idea if this is confirmed. But that group looks good for this movie. (I'm scared to get my hopes up, lol.)

The story is being brought up to date? That sounds like a good idea.
You're right they do. I really hope they don't do anything like give the kids iPhones. Or try to change the story for today. I mean I would understand somewhat of they had the grownups with iPhones Or played it off they were from today. I wish they wouldn't but I would be willing to accept it. But let a face it if kids had iPhones and social media it would not be scary he would be a YouTube sensation. So I really hope they stick with the story. I grew up in the technology boom so if u can handle and relate to IT with lack of technology so can others. And I am typing this from a smart phone.:hammer::rofl:

I mean people would just record it post it on YouTube then it would go viral so people would dress up like a clown and "it" would nI longer be scary because people would just assume it is someone doing a YouTube prank. Then when blood came out of the sink the kid would say " oh this must be a hidden camera social experiment" so in my opinion it's just best to keep technology and social media out of it. I think it will cheapen the story. Because people will say well how would the story have been kept in that small town Facebook would have made it go everywhere then the FBI should get involved because there is obviously some child kidnapping ring. Best to just keep those thoughts out of the eqausion by stick with the times. Could you imagine if stand by me.(the body) was made up to date. Those kids would have no reason to go on that trip because the first person that saw the body would have taken a picture and out it online so everyone would see it. It just changes to much

Beverly Marsh has one in her hands and is listening to music in the photo.

Edit: Just realized, this is not them in "character." Never mind. :rolleyes:

Ok good because I overlooked that. I just hope they Don't. I mean honestly who would be scared of a YouTube sensation. Just keep it in the time the story was based. That's my opinion anyhow

Because Pennywise couldn't possibly prevent a YouTube clip from going viral? (I don't actually think that would be a good way to handle technology in this story....just saying.)

There is a lot of cr@p on YouTube that some people believe. I have a friend who often believes absolute nonsense. (Fortunately his husband is level headed and tends to "bring him down".) The rest of us laugh at these videos. And if anything, that could be shown...that people seeing the clips either laugh or comment how phoney it looks...or how realistic it looks.

~~~
I still haven't seen the Carrie remake. Did she have a cell phone or was that an out of character shot? To me, Carrie having a cell phone goes completely against the original story because of her mother.
Btw, I'm OK whether it's brought up to date or not.
I'm not saying it has to be, just that I think it isn't a bad idea.
If the adults are modern day, wouldn't the kids be in the 80's? The kids still wouldn't have cell phones and Internet.
OIC. I wonder why he doesn't post here anymore.
I'm still around. I have been writing more than posting. It is funny how there seems to be a direct connection between how many pages I get written in my stories as opposed to how many I bleed into the internet. :D That being said, I'm still here. I still read and post. I'm not always the most positive on film adaptations of books so I often hold my tongue in discussions of films unless I find I can contribute in positive as well as just criticisms.
