From Misery
Sitting there, head thrown back, face shiny with sweat, hair plastered to his forehead....
'There may be fairies, there may be elves, but God helps those who help themselves.'

and the section about Wordsworth's criterion about writing good poetry. There's heaps more, but..

Dear Red, If you're reading this, you've gotten out. And if you've come this far, maybe you're willing to come a little further. You remember the name of the town, don't you? I could use a good man to help me get my project on wheels. I'll keep an eye out for you and the chessboard ready. Remember, Red. Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies. I will be hoping that this letter finds you, and finds you well. Your friend, Andy.

"It had been an eventful twenty-four hours. He had blown up an alien spacecraft, been betrayed by the man he had regarded as his logical successor, survived a mutiny and a civilian riot, and to top it all off, he had been relieved of his command by a sunshine soldier who had never heard a shot fired in anger. Kurtz's eyes slipped shut. After a few moments, he dozed." -- Dreamcatcher

When you're twenty-one, life is a roadmap. It's only when you get to be twenty-five or so that you begin to suspect that you've been looking at the map upside down, and not until you're forty are you entirely sure. By the time you're sixty, take it from me, you're ****ing lost.”

Stephen King, Joyland

“But then fall comes, kicking summer out on its treacherous ass as it always does one day sometime after the midpoint of September, it stays awhile like an old friend that you have missed. It settles in the way an old friend will settle into your favorite chair and take out his pipe and light it and then fill the afternoon with stories of places he has been and things he has done since last he saw you.”

― Stephen King, 'Salem's Lot'

From the above post from I.a.Link, I know for a fact that most English teacher are just trying to do their job, even though I'm not an English teacher and I hate English teachers seeing I'm an History teacher and the Social Science Department hate the English Department especially the bird with the dress( she's about 25) and thinks the sun shines out of her arse.

“Isn't there a frustrated writer inside every English teacher? Or am I wrong about that?” – Stephen King 11/22/63
I think there's a frustrated writer inside a lot of us. Maybe it goes back to the times when oral histories were passed down around the campfire. Or, it's just the normal human desire to communicate with one another.

I found it. It was in the car. They didn't get it.

Engines. That's something else about being a teenager. There are all these engines and some how you end up with the ignition keys to some of them and you start them up but you don't know what the **** they are or what they're supposed to do.There are clues, but that's all. The drug thing is like that, and the booze thing, and the sex thing, and sometimes other stuff too-a summer job that generates new interest, a trip, a course in school. Engines. They give you the keys and some clues, and they say,Start it up,see what it will do, and sometimes what it does is pull you into a life that's really good and fulfilling, and sometimes what it does is pull you right down the highway to hell. and leave you all mangled and bleeding by the roadside. Engines.
