Zippy finally got stuck? :eyebrow:
Unlike the newspapers, fan sites, etc., I can't do anything about leaking that info until the thumbs up come from those above my pay grade and especially when it comes to the film productions that often doesn't happen until AFTER it's gone out and someone else posts a link. I'd been told the press release was going out last Thursday, then it was Friday or possibly Monday. And what day is this? None of those! :rage:

I notice it's a Hulu series Does that mean we won't be able to see this in Canada?
I'm still waiting to have my question answered as to whether it will be on Hulu's free channel or only on their premium one. No idea about Canada as to be honest, I'm not that familiar with Hulu at all but will see if I can find out or perhaps someone here is familiar with the Hulu platform and can answer that for you.

Thanks. Apparently Hulu is still negotiating for rights in Canada, so I don't think we can even access the free channel.

Ms. Mod, you're correct, I probably should state that this is my opinion only.

If Hulu won't make this significant investment -- King, Abrams, and Franco can't possibly come cheap, at least in terms of profit participation -- only for its premium subscribers, at least initially, then I would question the logic of the Hulu premium model as a competitor against Netflix and Amazon. Indeed, if profit participation is by any chance being used to reduce upfront above-the-line costs and to keep the overall investment at a rational economic level, then it would stand to reason that sacrificing widespread viewership (and thus potential ad-supported monetization) would make sense for Hulu -- i.e., risk low exposure to the project for the chance of getting new subscriber trials.

Plus, for a subscriber (and I am not one), imagine seeing that the King/Abrams is available through ad support...wouldn't that bug the subscriber? Shouldn't subscribers want others to pay so the economy of scale will help the company acquire more content?

One last thing -- I believe there was a project I wanted to see (it might even have been Franco's documentary on Saturday Night Live) and I saw that it was only for subscribers. Thus, given all this, I predict the series will be subscriber-only. If you do find out, please let us know, as I am curious now.

From the article at Deadline:

"The thriller, based on the best-selling 2011 novel written by King, is described as an event series, but the streaming service is open to additional seasons, possibly focused on other historic events."

That's it. I'm done already. I see this taking a horrific turn a la the Under the Dome TV series.

Let's go back in time and... kill Hitler! Stop Lincoln from going to the theater! Prevent polio from developing! and on and one and on... :barf:

Sounds a lot like Quantum Leap or The Time Tunnel before it. I dunno, I liked both.

Wasn't there a Quantum Leap that took King as an inspiration for the episode?

I think opening up the show to other time periods might be interesting, but perhaps the usual suspects should be avoided. As an example, instead of anything to do with Lincoln, do something with 9-11.

I'd bet it will only be on premium. There aren't many "HULU Exclusives" or "HULU Original Series" that are available on the free site. The premium isn't bad, though--$8/mo.
