Two very different books. It makes them difficult to compare. However, I was a bit disappointed with Dr. Sleep. It was nice to find out happened to Danny and some of the characters from the Shining but the book itself was very predictable with the inevitable confrontation. That doesn't mean that I did not like it. Just that it was disappointing as a sequel to the Shining. Joyland was a good story. You could almost tell that King enjoyed writing it. An impression I didn't get from Dr. Sleep where he seemed to be struggling to compete against his younger self and failing. He's a different writer now and he came off more suited for Joyland than DrS in my opinion.
