I had read several of King's books and I kept reading that the Dark Tower Series was his best stuff. So I went to the local library and got the first book in the series. Not at all my favorite. I was almost ready to give up the whole series after the first book. But I went to the library again and got the second book, The Drawing of the Three and LOVED it! After that, it was one book after the other.

If you haven't read it... read it! The characters became my friends. My mind was blown away at the end of the last book!

It seems most people here have a book from The Dark Tower series they're less fond of as well as one or two books they especially love. My least favorite was The Drawing of the Three while Wizard and Glass and Wolves of the Calla are the ones I enjoyed most. The Dark Tower books are incredible on so many levels; really, not a day goes by that I don't think of them in some way. Welcome to the board; I look forward to reading more of your posts!

I am nearing the end of DT7 - I've been stuck a long time but I think I'll be finished within the next week. My favorites were Drawing of the Three and Wolves of the Calla. This last one is taking me a long time to get through. I've got reader's block right now.

Welcome to the SKMB - lots of gorgeous smart funny people here.

Welcome! You suffered the same fate as alot of folken did- Didn't care for the 1st book but then continued on to the second book and then fell in love with the story/characters. I myself love the first book simply because it is so different in style and plot from what King is best known for. I will never forget the feeling I had when I finished the last page of the first book- I was in awe of what King had written! I am one of the Tower freaks- I loved everything about those books, down to the very last line.

(I liked TWTTK - DT 4.5 but that is only because all I have read so far is that one and The Gunslinger). The Drawing of the Three got taken to work with me for breaks, but has yet to be started :a11:

I'm so tired Neesy that TWTTK kind of merged with breaks and looked like the word TWERK to me for a minute. LOL. I better go on to bed.

Welcome. I am a long time SK reader and didn't like The Gunslinger so avoided the whole DT seies. I actually read Wind Through the Keyhole on a whim. Read Drawing of the Three and then went mad for the whole thing. So you aren't alone.
