we see ben carrying a model he made of the standpipe. since we didn't get the dam building, this is a nice little hint of his future as an architect. Yes that was a cool touch. But Maybe I am nuts but I swore I saw a scene with the standpipe with Bill riding his bike past it?
He means we didn't get to see the Losers building the dam in the beginning of the movie. We did get to see the actual Standpipe in the movie.
Oh. Hooked on Phonics...didn't work for me. :(
Sorry.

It's alright. I did the same thing when I read the post and thought 'What's he talking about? We did get to see the building (of the Standpipe).' I forgot to change over the font on my previous reply so it looks like I'm yelling. Sorry.
Haha...s'ok.

Hey, to add salt to the wound, I even quoted Danie who pointed out the difference between 'dam' and 'damn', LOL. :facepalm_smiley:

I loved it. Really, truly loved it. There were changes, both big and small, that have been widely discussed here and elsewhere but they absolutely captured the heart of the story. I didn't find it particularly scary but there were still some good jumps for me, in spite of knowing what was coming, and it was definitely scarier than the original. I can't wait for Part 2!

What did y'all think?

The only thing that almost ruined this movie for me was the fact that there was a rather noisy African American gentleman sitting behind me who kept shouting things like "Aw Hell no!! Aw Hell no!! Don't Go in there!! Don't go in there!!! This movie is scurrrrry!!!", and then when Ben was being chased by the headless thing he stood up and screamed "GET HIM GET HIM GET HIM GET HIM!!!!" at the top of his lungs. By the middle of the movie even his mom was telling him to shut up.

Yes, I would embarrass people too. I was alone and during sheep/cat scene -- I actually whispered out loud, "I can't watch this" and covered my eyes too. And I was alone..

Of course, Georgie's arm gets ripped off and I watched that just fine. I don't know what that says about me.

You just made my day! I closed my eyes during the cat and sheep scenes too, yet giggled with delight when Georgie got sucked into the sewer. I'm glad I am not alone. :cat:

I would've politely asked him to be quiet or I would get an usher. The theater audience when I saw it, was completely silent the whole time. I cannot understand the type of person who doesn't care if he ruins everyone's viewing experience. Very narcissistic.

This is something that one of my sisters would do. She's lost all self control and just blurts out things constantly. Can't even watch a movie at home with her as she talks non-stop.

Some have mentioned how pleased they were with the depiction of Derry, I agree. Wherever this was shot was an eerie doppelganger for Bangor/Derry.

Port Hope , Ontario.
It's a beautiful little town. Such a good choice, it really does have the Derry feel with the old downtown, river and forest.

Port Hope used for the scenery / nice downtown and Oshawa used for the "crackhouse" ; fitting if you know the area.

I've got the itch to read the book again!
