I really enjoyed this movie. I've not read the story but I've seen the 90's mini-series and that was good. As a fan of Stranger Things, it's hard not to make comparisons both are similar. A group of kids investing something mysterious around a small town. Also has a Goonies feel to it. While this movie does have some good jump scares, it excels when it focuses on the kids stories. I found Beverly's story with her dad to be super creepy and was not expecting something that dark in terms of subject matter. I think my favorite character was Eddie. I loved his line mistaking placebos for gazebos. lol. Is it me or did Stanely's story feel not complete? I felt like I was missing something. I can't wait til they do the next movie, they need to hurry up! lol

I'm not familiar with Stranger Things but I was also reminded of Goonies while watching IT.
The ''gazebo'' instead of ''placebo'' made me laugh too.

Welcome to the SKMB btw

i think they managed to convey his personality pretty well - his fussiness and neatness and general dislike of all things dirty. there should be more of him in the directors cut, that speech about kids being alone, from the trailers, that was him, but they cut it.

btw - welcome.

My 10 year old drew this last night. Just from what he has seen from trailers. He wants to see this movie really bad. He gets on kicks where he just draws and draws and draws whatever his latest obsession is.

It made me laugh and just completely tickled me to no end. I am putting it in a frame and hanging it in my library.

(Hope the quality is ok, had to resize it and I never can tell on my end, they always look the same!)

You'll float too!

Are you not taking him because he is under 14 years old (it's completely understandable)

Good drawing!

Eddie's my favorite, too, probably because I was a bit of a hypochondriac as a kid (though thankfully I didn't have a mother like his). Obviously Richie gets the credit for being the funniest character in the movie (rightfully so), but Eddie's got some great lines too. And yes, I will never think of placebos the same way again.

As for Stan, I always thought of him as the least developed character in the book so it didn't feel like his story was particularly incomplete in the movie. As recitador said, I think the director has confirmed that there is a scene from Stan's bar mitzvah that should be included in the director's cut.

"Among the records the film has broken, IT scored the biggest opening weekend ever for a horror film in more than 30 territories, including the UK, Russia, Brazil, Mexico and Australia. In 17 of those territories, including the UK, Russia and Australia, IT has already become the top-grossing horror film of all time, and still counting. Anticipation is also building in several markets where the film is yet to open, including Germany, Italy and Japan."

Continuing its record-breaking run, New Line Cinema’s horror thriller IT is surpassing $500 million at the worldwide box office today, after less than three weeks in release, it was announced today by Sue Kroll, President Worldwide Marketing and Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures. The critically-acclaimed blockbuster is now the highest-grossing horror film ever, breaking the 44-year record belonging to The Exorcist, one of the longest-held records in cinema history.

Its amazing how the story now, thanks to the new movie, has a new younger generation of a sort of cult following? I had mentioned my youngest son saw the movie and is now reading the book (also audio) and the other day, though he generally keeps his hair at shoulder length, now he got his hair cut to look just like 'Bill's . :biggrin2:

Better he emulate Bill's hairline than Pennywise's. That probably wouldn't go over too well with his chums.

Alright, alright, alright......

If my favourite horror film had to be dethroned, I'm happy The King was responsible. Plus, this film still has to open in other territories including Japan. I'm now betting on a (close to) 0.75 billion global take-home by the end of IT's cinematic run. $600 million at the very least.

I agree with that view regarding the dethroning of The Exorcist, Steffen. That's one of my favourites of any genre.
