The Drawing Of The Three really opens up a whole universe of possibililities as to what King could do with this series. I was there when The Gunslinger was first published, although I didn't get to read it until two years after it was published, because I had no idea it even existed until I read it listed in the 'published works' list at the front of the hardback of Pet Semetary, way back in 1984! I loved the first book, because it was so different from anything King had written before. It was also my second real limited edition illustrated book and Michael Whelan's illo's really solidified the look and feel of Roland's world for me, right from the get-go. I will never forget the feeling of stunned awe after I finished the last sentence of The Gunslinger. But, when I read TDOTT, I knew that we Constant Readers were in for something magnificent! I couldn't wait for the next installments to come out. Those of us who are of a certain age, and those who have been fans for years, have had to suffer thru months and sometimes years of waiting for those books to come out. Just the anticipation was enough to kill us! I'm glad you are enjoying the book. King has such sights to show you!!

I love this book!
The doors, the lobstrosities, meeting the rest of the ka-tet for the first time. And Roland drinking cold soda for the first time and having problems with the pronunciation of the names of the different meds. I now call aspirin astin, and I guess I always will.
I am planning for a DT tattoo, and I have made sketches that include a lot of stuff from this book. Now, let's see if I ever get the tattoo done...

The Dark Tower is the reason I've since read all King has to offer. When I picked up a cop of The Gunslinger in 2006 I did not know it was the first of many in a series...was a bit peeved when I found out if you want to know the truth...but when I got on the plane with Eddie I was hooked line and sinker. I could have been reading King all those years...but I wasn't...and that's my lose in more ways than one. If you--whoever is reading this--have never read King and you enjoy a good story, you owe it to yourself to pick up a story and read one. Where's my can of spray paint!

I am done with the Drawing of Three. In true Stephen King fashion, he does tie most things together at the end.(of course, he does leave us hanging with lots of things!) Love Roland! Love his strength and power. His need to protect, but also his ruthlessness. The whole dynamic of him and Eddie is great. From now on, I think every time I eat lobster, this book will float into my mind!! This was such a great book! On to the Tower!

The name of my Fantasy Football team is the Lobstrosities. I can see the team logo as one of these things standing upright with the pincers raised above it's head. I'm hoping to find some decent rendering of one online somewhere to use on my team website for next season. Any suggestions?

Sorry to necro this thread, but Bryan James's post above this made me die laughing yesterday. And then, this morning on Facebook, I see this in my newsfeed:

Dud-a-cluck?

I just finished this book a few days ago, and it was such a wild ride. It was so intense, yet so much fun at the same time. I loved Roland's reaction to drinking Coke, and that he paid for antibiotics with a Rolex. And the "just desserts" served to Jack Mort were beyond satisfying.:wink-new:

I started re-reading this a week ago. This will be my 3rd time for this one (First was in High School when there were only DT1, DT2, and DT3 written, 2nd time was when the entire series was finished.) God I love this book. It is the one that sucked me into the series the first time I read it and I never looked back. I am enjoying it more than ever this time around.
