Good morning and Happy Thursday,

Sorry for not being around again this week. Kind of been in a funk and haven't wanted to spread my bad cheer.

Evan had an accident a couple weeks ago. He was late to work, distracted, and hit a light pole with his car. He is fine, thank goodness. And no one else was hurt either. He was not on his phone. I checked online, on the logs. No official word from insurance company but pretty sure his car is totalled.

So just one of those things but this is the second car he has totalled. The first one was a genuine accident, was dark and snowy and someone was stopped in a right turn lane to help someone else who had slid off the road right there and by the time Evan realized the guy wasn't moving it was too late to get stopped, he slid right into the guy's truck. No one hurt then either, thank goodness.

No matter what insurance decides to do with him (which I fear will be bad) I am going to have to dump him off our policy. I lost MY good driver discount after his first accident and my rates went up, cannot afford another, probably astronomical increase. He is going to have to save up and find something he can pay cash for and only needs liability on.

He is 18 now and in such a hurry to be treated as an adult. This is going to be a very pricey lesson for him. Nothing to do but take his lumps. I go back and forth from feeling bad for him to being angry at him.

So, we are making him ride the bus to school but his work hours are such that I need to pick him up from school so he gets to work on time. Picking Ty up from school every day too, after play practice, plus going back out between 11:30 pm and 12:30 am to pick Evan up from work.

Kids. I swear.

Some good things too...Spencer turned 1 last Friday. He is starting to walk!

And our anniversary is Sunday. 19 years! :love_heart: Does not seem that long.

Anyway, long post. :a11: But that is what is happening in my world. Could definitely go for a little less excitement.

Happy Valentine's Day, and happy weekend. Big hugs and positive vibes to all. :love_heart:
Ouch! Glad to hear Evan is okay and think you're doing the right thing by making him cover his own insurance even if the accidents weren't completely in his control.

Oh my gosh, Spencer is just too cute! Happy first birthday!

Happy Anniversary to you and Scott! And here's to many more.

(((Cat)))

When I was Evan's age, I wiped out two cars in one month.

Spencer was not too into his smash cake. He ate some but did not get very messy! He has figured out how to unwrap presents since Christmas, though. That was cute. :D

Thank you for the anniversary wishes too! :love_heart:

Kids, eh? Sorry to hear about your son Evan - glad he was not hurt even though the car was ruined.

That's a cute little grandson! :star:

Happy Anniversary on Sunday :cake: (sorry - couldn't find a cake with 19 candles!)

I did say Sunday, didn't I? I meant Saturday. :facepalm_smiley: :D Whoops. Still 19 years though! :p

Thanks for the good wishes everyone! It has not been a perfect 19 years but I'm still glad I married him. Wouldn't change it, not a bit. Even the rough spots have made us better, I believe.

where is do1you9love? HollyGolightly. Cat checked in with us Thursday, hopefully things are smoothing out her way.

Thank you Sisterwife for checking on me! I'm alright - I'm alright - just point me in the right direction (donuts for you if you can name who said that in a movie) I will not post my epistle of pity - Poor me, I'm so busy - blahdy blah. It gets old, so it does. But that's all it is - all work and no play makes Holly a sullen girl....

I should be working now, but I saw cat in a bag 's lamentations on having a 18 year old boy driver on her car insurance and wanted to join in - (Dear God, I speak like the the prophets and apostles - someone stop me!) cat in a bag our 19 year old ditched his first truck more than I even know - he had people who could pull him out, so he didn't always tell me - I'd just see mud caked on it or notice a side mirror taped back on with camo duct tape (!!). He had 1 at fault accident last March. He hit a deer a few weeks ago. I could go on and on. This is why teen boys are so hard to insure. He had to drive me to my mom's house (2 hours away) this past Tuesday (so I could pick up a car for our youngest - I got my sister's 2005 Impala for $600!!) His driving was pretty good. So there's hope. But one more accident and he's off my policy. I'm not suffering for his mistakes.

We are nearly in our season of do nothing at work - I plan on being more present here on the SKMB as we begin to wrap up our time here. I really miss our short story reading group. I need to get Joe's new shorts and try to catch up.

Now that Christmas season is over (for us it went on thru Jan 12th this year), then we celebrated two Feast Days - we have a large Nigerian population and we celebrate their patron saint with them on Jan 19th and then celebrated our patron saint Feast Day and had a fundraiser - there's been a lot happening since Dec 1. I'm ready for Fat Tuesday & Lent. Bring it on! Have a donut in celebration with me . I ordered some little plastic babies so I can make a King Cake - I got a kit with green, gold and purple colored sugar and the babies. I need some real King Cake. And I need a jar of Nutella. And ice cream. Then I'm all set.

Have a great weekend everyone. See all the usual suspects over at the Ka-Tet Playground.
You too - we just found out they turned off the water on our street (must be a water main break) - so now they have parked a City of Winnipeg trailer out front with an emergency drinking water supply!

Oh well - better than a kick in the pants I guess :smile-new:

Some bad news. I went to have my eyes examined today, Thought i had started to see a little less well. Wanted to fit out a new pair of glasses. Obviosly i saw a lot less well. They sent we straight to the eyedoctor. Before i can get a new pair they said i should check thouroughly so it gets as good as possible. Means it takes a lot longer time to get the glasses. I saw shockingly bad with these glasses. Hopefully this will blow over when all that can be examined has been examined. I say as Richie Tozier said: I probably be wearing coke-bottles next! (you can always find a good quote in IT)
