at the time, I wouldn't have wanted to depend on one in ANY war. Sounds like it was a horrible design flaw that cost lives. The M-16 was designed for a European war, not SE Asia.
...maybe so, but the roll out that mattered was Vietnam....right gun, wrong theatre....and not well received until the fatal flaws were cleaned up...The M-16 was designed for a European war, not SE Asia.

...oh I know my friend.....lots of "obvious" things were anything but huh?.....Not defending the gun, just saying. It was like at the start of the 1990 war with Iraq. NATO members of the coalition had trouble with sand getting into equipment designed for Europe not the desert.
and her baby is adorable!...Gan bless her, she's beautiful....
It has been interesting and heartbreaking, but very well done. That looks like something I'd be interested in watching, a family member of mine was in the Vietnam war. I hope it come available to watch in New Zealand.

Bev, not sure the timeline of your move to America, but I'm guessing you lived in Canada at the time of Vietnam. I am curious as a Canadian, what did you think about the influx of American deserters? Or what did your family or community think? I'd be interested in a Canadian's point of view.
