Read an interview with King at Rolling Stone (I bet someone probably has already linked it on the forum somewhere, but if not, it's easy enough to find by searching King's name in a news search). As always, love to hear from him. Curious about a couple things.

Of course, we all are looking forward to Institute. Seems like a cool fall book. The interview mentioned, though, that the next book out in 2020 is If It Bleeds (if I recall the name, I don't have the interview open)...anyone care to guess when that might arrive? Be nice if it came out before Sept, but I doubt it will because he said he has a polish to do on it. Not sure how long that will take. Also said he is working on another book. Wish some premise at least was released on that.

I'm also curious if we are due another short story/novella collection. I know we're still close to Bazaar, but I'm thinking we could be getting close to at least anticipating something in the next couple years? Has King written many short stories at this point?

By the way, too, on that polish issue...funny thing about that is, it must be hard to read over what you wrote. I'm assuming King reads all of his written material before he publishes any of it, unless he somehow streamlines that process (anyone know specifically?). But after having written something so long, going back to polish must take so much time. I'm obviously no writer for the most part and am only a hobbyist (just a couple very small credits in fiction, mostly I freelance non-fiction), but boy do I not like re-reading what I wrote. Nearly impossible for me. I sort of hope for the best most of the time (it's sort of an OCD...it just never seems to measure up, and I just want to keep adding or changing).

That was a good interview. I liked it.

I am getting annoyed with how much books cost in Canada. I usually buy hard covers and the latest king book is like $40.00 Canadian, but I will get it when it is like 40% off. But it may be a bit before I can afford the new joe hill book I know for a fact his will not be on 40% off. He does not have a huge readership in Canada which is annoying. Chapters has his last book for like $8.00 imay get an extra to sell at a later date perhaps, if his books become valuable

I imagine King has probably streamlined his editing process after all this time. He apparently reads it out loud as the final step.
Just a side note here that this site is not affiliated with or being endorsed by Stephen in any way, nor was he asked permission to post his tips, although it is probably fair usage so was not technically required.

Well, Stephen said that The Institute was written years ago, who knows what other stories of even completed novels he has. I'm sure he has plenty of short stories and a new collection is likely going to come out. I you want a detailed idea of how he writes, pick up his non-fiction book, it details everything in that.
