Nobody has any money left after Christmas! ;) (How was the holiday Lepplady?) It was pretty quiet around here.
Pretty good.
That's the thing. Money's going to be tight, holidays or not. So we should nail down the details as early as possible so people can save up.

I can't help thinking about Anne Rice's undead con. Hundreds of people go to that. Maybe thousands. And if she can draw a crowd like that, you know Unca Stevie could attract even more with an official event. We'd have to beat 'em off with a stick. Imagine it, panels of celebrity guests, a masquerade ball with an unmasking at midnight, meet and greets with Steve and his family, Banquet, vendor's room, charity auction, and all of the fun things everybody enjoyed at the first Kon. Bonfire, pot luck group tour (depending on the location), meeting the wonderful Ms. Mod. Just to name a few. It would be amazing for us fans and could raise a bunch of money for the charity of Steve's choice.

I'm told pretty frequently that it'll never happen, but that doesn't stop me thinking about how awesome it would be.

Steve had an extremely busy 2013 and needs to spend more time on his writing and with his family so told me a few months ago that he is not going to do any appearances in 2014. And, as I've already mentioned, he does not do conventions--hasn't done them since the '80s.

What is a King kon? how much does it cost? Are there tons of people or just board folks? --what do you all do?

Last year it was held in Maine and a lot of people did attend. Even Jojo from Finland managed to fly over. Ms. Mod (Marsha) was there as well. They camped somewhere. I got a post card signed by a bunch of people! I heard that overall it was a lot of fun! I hope to be able to make it this summer if and when we have a King Kon (fingers crossed!)

p.s. Not everyone camped so there would probably be alternative accommodation. Ask Blunthead - he was there last year and helped to organize it. I think he was sort of the "Advance party"
