I don't drink, because I tend to play fast and loose with social conventions/TMI as it is. I like to go when other people are drinking, though, because I kind of feel like the whole world is about three drinks behind and that helps level the playing field. (My husband describes my personality as "Two sheets to the wind.")

Mix alcohol with Jen and the next day's papers will look something like this:

Stephen King Fan, Wearing Only House Paint Arrested

"She was climbing a flagpole, insisting she just needed to get 'the lay of the land' to find her way back to her friends," said Officer Smith. "She was super friendly, and taught songs to everyone in holding. We'll kind of miss her," he got back to work, singing Mairzy Doats quietly at his desk.

Stephen King's assistant Marsha replied, when briefed on the situation and asked for comment, "Oh good, *that's* where she is! Guys, she's down at the station," followed quickly by, "Who bet on COPS in the pool? No, mine was STOLE A ROWBOAT."

No charges were filed, but Old Man Smithers has asked to have his 5 gallon bucket latex exterior replaced.

You forgot the part that says: 'She was accompanied by a man wearing only a fur lined jockstrap who was shouting at the top of his lungs "That's my flagpole, ya wicked woman! Now get down off of there and let me play for awhile! It's mine Woman! MINE!'

I can make some SK themed name tags if that hasn't been covered yet. I am awful with names.

I'm terrible with names too. Sometimes I just suck it up and say, "Sorry, I know you told me your name 30 seconds ago" or, "Sorry, I know we've already met at least three dozen times," or, "Sorry, I know we had that conversation where you poured your darkest secrets out," followed by, "but can you remind me of your name?"

Other times, I smile uncomfortably and hope someone else calls their name before I have to reveal the awful truth.

In any case, name tags? I've always wanted this one.

I would remember very few REAL names if I met our kids from the board in person. If they told me their board name i.e., Grandpa, fljoe, notnadine, (these are just examples because this would include everyone), those I would remember.

I visited Bangor for the first time in August 2015. I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn and was so tired from driving I sat at the bar for an hour and a half. It was a nice hotel. Are there any other hotels you would recommend?
I did see Bar Harbor but I was there only for a brief time. I drove to Acadia National Park, too. I hope to make it to the Kon so I can see more of Bangor and meet everyone. This time I want to go to Dysart's and The Salty Dog restaurant. Have you heard of these?
Hope you can make it! I think you mean the Sea Dog and it's a place I like to go. Good brew =D The Blue Paw on draft is a MUST have. The food is pretty good too ;) They have an outside deck as well which is great in the summer as the restaurant is right on the river. I think we should all go there. There are two Dysart's, the one you'll want is in Hampden(just a few miles outside of Bangor)as that was the Trucks inspiration. The hotels depend on where you want to stay. There are several by the mall area which might be where the Hilton is...there's one right downtown called the Charles Inn but stacy270 stayed there and was NOT pleased with the bed ;-Dbut it's a great location.

Would love to.

Grandma and I are hoping to have a New England car tour for a week this fall of 2017. Bangor would be included. It may be a tall (and expensive) order to get out there twice in two years. And we're kinda stuck on fall because we hear that the New England autumn is lovely.

But heck, maybe my books will suddenly sell (as if). Maybe I'll get some great gigs, and we'll have time and money that we won't know what to do with (as if). Anything can happen (that much is true).

Although I felt kinda standoffish last year when we were all at the Stanley, please rest assured that it was my typical social awkwardness and not you truly lovely people. Kurben might attest that when I get over to a one-on-one, I'm really not so bad.

Anyway, here's hoping!
You? Stand-offish? Nah - I just cannot picture that at all - it would be great to meet both you and the lovely Grandma in person!

....the time has come the Walrus said(which would be me, Gan knows I've got the blubber for it)to speak of many things-like trips, get togethers and Kons of King....the next gathering of King fans on our every other year schedule is slated for 2018, as we return to where it all began-Bangor, Maine......many of you were aware this was in the works, and I once again said I would help with logistics and planning....this will be the third Kon I've shouldered and hope you bear with me-I'm no expert. As it stands, King Kon 2018 will take place the weekend of July 20th to the 22nd. Tentatively, this is how it's gonna roll. With help from Marsha, and members "embedded" in that locale, we will have a meet and greet of our fellow Kingophiles at Gerald Winters and & Sons book shop in downtown Bangor on Friday-if that is acceptable to him. Might be an auction and giveaways at the time. Saturday, I would like to do a bus tour of King landmarks, as we did on our inaugural visit lo those many years ago-and I will rely on Marsha's help to guide me to the right company to make that happen. It was a big hit for those that attended our first Kon, and any repeat visitors will enjoy the sights all over again, as well as giving those new to the Kons, a treasured memory. We all will have to chip in to defray the cost, and once I get a company lined up-I will get you the price. As far as lodging, all can choose as you like around the area-but I spoke this morning with the Best Western White House Inn in the Bangor environs and I believe that's where Tracy and I will abide. Cost will be approx. 160 a night-but they offer a breakfast buffet, outdoor pool and many other amenities-booking of rooms should be done in February to ensure accommodations due to tour groups coming in July and the popular concerts on the waterfront series ....the only other item will be a dinner for all in attendance-and as the months go by, we can winnow down the possibilities there. Lepplady has graciously agreed to help design the souvenir shirts and when those are complete-a link will be posted for purchase.....she did a marvelous job for the Colorado Kon.....so, that's how it looks at this point-just wanted everyone to be aware, so if you can make it-this will give time to put some Benjamins aside.......look forward to seeing old friends and hugging the hell out of new ones in the "real world" instead of only knowing them from behind their avatars.....
The White House, eh?

As long as the "Pres" isn't there, I guess that will do...
