.....soooooo, I finally had a chance to speak with a delightful young lady at the Dodge City Visitor and Convention Bureau yesterday....she is putting together a tentative list of "things to do" next Summer.....I have chosen the weekend of July 17th-19th 2020.....lots of history, plenty of shopping, a distillery tour, possible paranormal hunt, Boothill Cemetery etc.......there is a nearby casino for those so inclined and she will also have a list of hotels and eatery's who will be vying to accommodate us.....will keep you posted as info arrives....
Well. I finally did what Grandma deserves and arranged for a nice getaway with friends. With the work schedule, our friends' schedule, and the cruise line's schedule, the time windows were tight. We're doing a short river cruise (Danube) in Europe, bookended by touring in Budapest and Vienna. It's not as extravagant as it may sound - I'm getting our flights on miles, we're sharing an apartment with our friends, and the cruise itself came at the right price.
Anyway, we fly back from Vienna on 7/16. That makes it tight, and a little crazy, if I want to make it. But it's only a six-hour drive from my stoop to Dodge City, so there's still a chance. I'll try, I really will.
Man, it would be nice to be at the swan song. Thank you, Scott, for setting this up. As always, Mr. Stalwart.
