Thought the above is pretty exciting. I hope the reporting is accurate in the sense that King will be the sole author of the last episode; at least, that's how I read one section of the piece. It's unclear to me, though, if King will be a co-writer given another part of the article.
Also, would be nice if the last episode was composed of only new material; I'd rather it not be just a new "coda," as indicated. It should be a flash-forward in time. Maybe even a decade or two. What would be cool, too, is if everything seems to be going well, and then...RF returns. (No, I don't mean Ralph Furley from Three's Company.) Then again, I suppose that would be the obvious route, given what the epilogue was to the uncut version. Could be the winner of a presidential election, or an election somewhere else in the world, or if not that, he becomes some powerful person (a CEO, whatever).
It was mentioned King didn't enjoy his original ending. Yes, the last three words (as I recall) were not so moving - rather dull, to be frank - but the epilogue to the uncut edition I thought was a great way to conclude the proceedings. I guess what I'm saying is I'm wondering if King disliked the epilogue.
