first one was best. 2nd and 3rd will still good, 4th a little weaker. haven't seen 5 all the way through. tried 6 and it got on my nerves very fast. but i hate reality tv, so they couldn't have picked a worse format. i hope they've come to their senses for 7.
I only watched it because Lady Gaga was in it. Well, plus it had Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett. ;-D

The Founder - Michael Keaton plays Ray Kroc, the guy who started the McDonald's franchise. I'll watch anything with Keaton in it. It was a really nice movie but man, Kroc really screwed the McDonald brothers over, didn't he?

....oh yeah, he gave em a real McFuc*in'....

For real dude. I'm not a fan of the food and knew next to nothing about the story of how the company came to be. I was so enjoying Keaton's performance that toward the latter part of the movie when the shark in him came out, I was really taken aback. Chalk that up to MK too, cause man, how could anyone not like that guy's acting?

Watched this awhile back. Terrible man. If I remember correctly, his widow gave away the fortune to charities.

The Mummy, the Brendan Frasier version. The Kid didn't remember it at all (last time we watched it he was tiny), and he loved it a lot. It still could make me laugh, too, and the special effects really stand up, even after all these years.

I'd never seen it before! It was awesome.

Tarantino and the Coen brothers rock me.

Have you watched, The Man Who Wasn't There.

Have mercy, it was superb!

(BTW- Sir, if you have Netflix and liked Breaking Bad, I strongly recommend, Ozark. I'm three episodes in.)
:encouragement:

1 - i have not
2 - i do and i did
3 - i'll make a note of it. netflix really does great with shows. all the marvel shows, sense8, santa clarita diet, glow, friends from college . . . all good shows. they've got so many i haven't managed to get to. they've got their stinkers (not touching 13 reasons why), but their success rate seems higher than network. or maybe it's just because you get the whole season at once and don't tend to get a panic cancellation after 2 episodes like networks tend to do.

We saw The Man Who Wasn't There. Quirky, and we enjoyed it, but once was enough.

Inglorious Basterds. Well... Grandma, gentle soul that she is, has a tough time with war violence in general, although she can stomach comic violence like Deadpool or John Wick. She despised the ultraviolence, even comic, of Kill Bill, Part 1, and I'm just not sure we're up for the Basterds.

Midnight movie on Friday night. Crowd was bigger than I expected. I was very disappointed in the print. It was a well worn 35mm copy. One of only an handful left. It was pretty washed out in a lot of places. The movie was good. Argento's first real Gialo foray! I've seen it before and have it on DVD but wanted to see it in 35mm.

Hey, Grandpa!

I think I was into Inglorious Basterds like 7-12 minutes when I paused it and checked the director and yep, it's Tarantino. (same thing with The Man Who Wasn't There-check the director and it's the Coen brothers.)

Yeah, I have trouble with wars (Full Metal Jacket? Have mercy.) and violence, well...Taratino violence is way over the top. I clench my fist and teeth and my shoulders are up around my ears when it happens, but I keep watching.

The Hateful Eight was freaking awesome, beautiful story telling, direction, camera, etc., but good heavens the violence.

Take care in your travels and come home safe.

The Verdict

A lawyer sees the chance to salvage his career and self-respect by taking a medical malpractice case to trial rather than settling.

I guess this movie was considered good at the time but it made me cringe several times.

Paul Newman hit a woman so hard he knocked her to the ground and made her bleed. When lawyers find out a black doctor will be testifying for their opponent they snicker and smile with derision at the thought of a black doctor.

The Newman character left much to be desired, IMO.
