I watched 30 minutes last night of Cape Fear(1991) (Vengeance is mine:Romans). I don't know which version I prefer better because both Mitchum and De Niro are good, I like how in the 1991 one version that even though Cady is a despicable person you feel like you want him to hurt the lawyer because he's full of himself.

I'm not an admirer of Affleck either. His acting is wooden to me. Haven't seen Gone Girl but I did read the book and I thought 'What a perfect part for him to play.' as the husband has the emotional depth of a plant.

Right! And he was great in Dazed & Confused as a high school bully, and in Mall Rat's, as a sleazy guy who works at a men's suit shop, and keeps a journal of the girls he's managed to have sex with during which they are made very uncomfortable -- the back of a Volkswagen, for example. See a pattern here?! Imagine the day when you hear that your least favorite actor has been chosen to play your most beloved fictional character. Sir, may you never be dealt such a tort!

Look at Michael Keaton's lips. He had great lips in that mask.

Not the mask so much as collagen injections! He & Kim Bassinger both were sporting 'bee stung lips' in that film. Keaton was rounded out with more face work, dental caps, tanning gel, & hair transplants. But he still looks pretty good today. Although the hair transplant has lost it's structural integrity.

From the good ol Midwest
I was watching The Old Dark House (1932) this morning. Hard to believe the young woman is the same Gloria Stewart who played the old lady in Titanic! This is my favorite James Whale film. Please watch this iconic scene. It was obviously filmed before the Hollywood decency codes were in place. That's fine stuff. But it'll rot!

I have never seen this movie......But, after watching this scene I have to! Thank you.

I dig both, but I like Mitchum's Cady more. De Niro's is too much like a Batman villain or something.
