I think they could do way with the current ratings system and just classify the movies in two categories, "Watch With Your Mother" (WWYM) and "Don't Watch With Your Mother" (DWWYM). That would tell me everything I need to know. ;-D They could shorten the rating to just W and D.
My daughters have one of those ratings systems between them: Movies I Can Watch With Dad and "Nope. Never." They tried a Movies I Can't Watch With Mom rating, but I told them if that's the case, it's a movie they shouldn't be watching at all :)

SkiMom2: Absentia was an early morning movie for a while when it was in one of the Showtime channel's rotations.

Fairly slow-paced, no-name actors, but a good creepfactor.
Definitely a 'no-name' movie (it was a kickstarter project), and it got less creepy in the second half, but that first half ... Definitely a decent low budget movie :)

You got me confused for a moment there. Charles Bronson! Surely you mean the actor that starred in many action, westerns and thrillers. but it turned out to be another charles Bronson. A much more creepy guy than the actor. But it was a natural mistake. The name in connection with movies and you think of the actor.

Correct . . .research and you'll find out. That's what I do.

My second time for this one. Powerful independent film that got an Oscar nomination for Best Picture in 2011. The story takes place in rural Missouri and is about a 17 year old girl with worthless parents that is taking care of the family herself and raising 2 children that the worthless parents have stuck her with. Her father is arrested for drugs and puts their house up for part of his bond. Then he disappears and the family will lose the house unless he is found and makes his court date. Highly recommended.

Unless Mom's name happens to be Candy Stripe and she works down at the local strip club.....:biggrin-new:

Watched some of The Amazing Spiderman. It was alright. Andrew Garfield was excellent as Parker, not so much as Spiderman. I wish Tobey Maguire was back though.

I thought it was decent too but what I don't understand is why they went back to the beginning again so soon after the Tobey Maguire version. I wish they would have done a different story.

That's on my Netflix list! Really looking forward to see it now!

Robocop 1987

This is on blu-ray now and I had not seen it since it's original theatrical release so I thought I would give it another viewing. The movie is part science fiction and part social commentary (aimed at the Reagan years). It's a little dated but still enjoyable. One strange thing about the movie is that it's a futuristic tale but the only thing that seems to be futuristic is robocop. In the movie, everyday life looks like 1987 and a robocop looks like 2030 (we already have armed robots, they just aren't roaming the streets yet). The story is a bit silly but director Paul Verhoeven makes up for it and delivers a top notch violent action flick.

I'll have to give it another watch soon . . .I didn't realize that Nancy Allen (Officer Anne Lewis) was in Carrie 1976 until years later.
