I buy my potatoes at a farmer right about the corner.....hope he hasn't seen this movie :D

We watched Batman--The Dark Knight yesterday.
Actually, i'm not a DC Comic Fan, but this Trilogy is awesome and always a pleasure to watch

I really thought something was going to happen. It didn't..

At the Oscars did anyone else notice that Eva Marie Saint called Hitchcock 'Fred'? I re-checked and she really said 'Fred', not 'Alfred'.
I had never heard anyone that knew or worked with him call him 'Fred', it's usually either 'mister Hitchcock' or 'Hitch'.

78/52 Hitchcock's Shower Scene (2017/Alexandre O. Phillipe) is a good documentary, but it's not just about the shower-scene, but more about the film as a whole with some more focus on that particular scene.
Problem with this type of documentary is that there are too many speakers, so it goes wildly from one aspect of the film to the next. Even when they go in-depth about the shower scene with an editor they still intersperse it with other speakers.

Wind River-I liked this one, for the most part. Jeremy Renner gives a lovely, understated performance as a fish and game tracker who is helping with a murder investigation on a Native American reservation. It's gorgeously shot, as well. My favorite part: they cared enough to get the accents and Renner's clothes right. My mom mostly grew up on and around this reservation, many of my family still live there, and my husband is actually from the town shown in the movie, so I know whereof I speak. Elisabeth Olsen's character was a big fat zero, and only one of the NA actors look anything like Shoshone or Arapaho tribal members, but it was a nice slow burn nonetheless. There was a surprise cameo that I liked a lot, too.

In The Forest-Picked this one up at the library because it was an apocalypse, but it turned out to be mostly a snorer. The director would just get something going and she'd have to pause for five minutes of arty shots. This happened every few minutes. Boring.
In the Forest or Into the Forest? Was it that Canadian film about the two sisters living in the woods after a world wide power outage?

Yeah. Into the Woods was mind numbingly boring, but not as bad as In The Forest. :) I've never heard of Into the Forest

Into the Forest (2015) - IMDb

They make it look sort of American but it was filmed in Campbell River, BC

Based on a book called Into the Forest written by Jean Hegland

Two sisters learn how to survive following a massive power outage. They're isolated in their home in the woods in the Pacific Northwest. Not a bad movie.

This isn’t exactly a movie but it is great entertainment for all you Whoopi Goldberg fans out there. I just purchased from Amazon this DVD package.

And it has a bonus disc that includes, maybe not all, but most, of her show that I watched on HBO back in 1985 and fell madly in love with her talents and charisma.

Be sure to change your underwear protection pads first. Then slide the DVD of choice into your DVD player and let the laughter begin. It’s stand up. I recommend you begin with the Whoopi Direct From Broadway first, as that was her first show and there are references to it in the Back To Broadway disc performed 20 years later.

I found this one at Goodwill and bought it. It is a great way to see how she has matured in her comedy and how some things hold true from 1985 to now. Whoopi is a national treasure!

I watched 2 movies this weekend that are about as different as you can get. Dog Pound is a juvenile prison movie and 5 to 7 is a romance. So, I guess they are both prison movies ;-D.

Dog Pound (2010) - This is a Canadian film that is a remake of a British film called Scum. It's a brutal tale of 3 teenagers going through the juvenile prison system in Montana. It was pretty good.

5 to 7 (2014) Anton Yelchin - This is on Netflix. I don't watch too many romances but this one had Anton in it so I thought I'd give it a try. I liked it quite a lot. Anton plays a young guy that falls for an older (33 years old) French woman who happens to be married with two children. It's a very complicated relationship that is not only complicated because of the marriage but also because of the different cultures of the young American and the French woman. It's kind of sad watching a movie with Anton in it knowing what happened to him.

I'll have to check out that one called Dog Pound - it sounds really interesting - thanks!

American Sniper. I remember it was controversial when it came out but can't remember why. I thought it was a great story that fully understood what returning soldiers went through.
And stupid Hollywood propaganda also. What did that sniper say about citizens of Iraq: they are savages!Of course they are because they defend their own country from the aggressor - the USA. That's why they are savages.
I don't know what kind of man he was but this movie represents him as a crud. Such kind of propaganda permeates almost all Hollywood movies.
Btw, there's also a nint on evil Syria (so evil) - a syrian sniper.

...despite your best effort, you won't sully the memory of a good and faithful soldier....
One more time: I'm not talking about personality of this man, may be he was a good man and great soldier. And that's good - he fought for his country.
But I'm talking about stupid Hollywood propaganda like "they are savages" about Iraq population, etc. And that kind of propaganda one can find in almost all Hollywood movies.

The Hunter (1980) **1/2 Directed by Buzz Kulik
Steve McQueen's final film role before his death has him step into the shoes of real-life bounty hunter Ralph "Papa" Thorson. Between pursuing bail-jumpers, he prepares for fatherhood and is stalked by a speed-addled psychotic he put away. More effective as a character study than as a straight action thriller or biopic, with a mostly episodic script, but the direction by Kulik is workmanlike, if lacking in punch, and McQueen gives a great swansong performance. It has its flaws, but overall, its a fitting goodbye to the King of Cool.

Acts of Vengeance (2017) *1/2 Directed by Isaac Florentine
Slick defense attorney Antonio Banderas is devastated when his wife and daughter are killed, and takes a literal vow of silence until he finds who is responsible. Obvious, predictable B-thriller has Florentine's signature wham-bam fight choreography, but little else.
